Kind of a Strange Movie
12 May 2003 | by (Fairbanks, U.S. Territory of Alaska) – See all my reviews

Why was this strange? At times it felt like a comedy, at other times like a drama. All the while we never really got to see into these peoples' lives, just got see what was happening on the surface. That actually wasn't half bad... for a Made-for-TV movie. I've seen Jack Wagner in a lot of different roles but here he looked in place. And the three women in his life - simply delicious! Almost makes me wanna say - `awww, poor guy.' That would be wrong, though, since what he was doing was pure sin. Of course, the story never went there... what else is new? The story also never went more than a single line of dialogue into the mental illness that Pilot Rawlings *must* have had. He wasn't out to seek wives for religious reasons so he obviously had something seriously wrong with him. Never was that examined nor was forgiveness ever examined. No, Mrs. Rawlings the 1st didn't have to forgive him but holy cow, man, when someone does something ‘cause there's something wrong with them to ‘cause them to do something wrong, well, come on, what about rehabilitation?!? In America, we, for the most part, seem to wanna just forget about forgiveness, maybe try to destroy whoever wronged us, and move on to the next thing in life. This movie did a good job of demonstrating that. Unfortunately, there was too much going on to get beneath the surface. Oh well. How much can ya do with such a complex story and only approximately 90 minutes? Often not a lot. Sometimes you can do alright and this was alright... and I'm kind of in a state of surprise saying that because sooooooo many tv movies simply fail, are simply totally unmemorable but this was decent. Not great by ANY means but okay. My grade for this: C+
