A 14 year-old actress joins the gang of devil-tough teenage girl avengers we've seen on screen this year
Who is she?
An unholy trinity! What's she in?
The new Coen Brothers' western, True Grit. It's adapted from a novel by Charles Portis (which has been filmed before, with John Wayne, in 1969). She plays Mattie Ross, an iconic American literary creation – up there with Huck Finn some say.
What's her Mo?
Well she looks like a pigtailed Puritan minister's daughter and quotes deadpan from the Old Testament. Eye for an eye would be a good place to start for her views on justice. She sets out to see the man who killed her father hanged.
Sounds grim. How does she go about it? »

Korean mystery yarn “Secret” marks the directorial debut of Yoon Jae Goo, screenwriter of the superb Kim Yoon Jin starring kidnap thriller “Seven Days”. Unsurprisingly, Yoon aims again for taut suspense and a labyrinth plot filled with deception and murky motives. The neo noir stars actor Cha Seung Won (recently in “Eye for an Eye”) as a tortured detective, with Song Yoon Ah (“Arang”) as his possibly murderous spouse and support from Roo Seung Ryong (“Best Seller”) and Kim In Kwon (“Haeundae”). The film gets off to an appropriately enigmatic beginning, as homicide detective Sung Yeol (Cha Seung Won) is whispered a mysterious message by a hitman badly injured in a traffic accident. Sung Yeol is a troubled man, still reeling from the death of his young daughter in a car crash for which he was responsible, being drunk behind the wheel after a date with his mistress. His life »

"Rise of the Apes," the 2011 "Planet of the Apes" prequel, has found its first star -- James Franco, who you may remember from his stint as "Franco" on "General Hospital" (among other things, like the "Spider Man" franchise and "Pineapple Express").
According to Cinematical, Franco is slated to play one of the young scientists whose experiments lead to the apes' takeover and mankind's downfall. It is set in present day San Francisco and will focus on the war for supremacy.
Rupert Wyatt ("The Escapist") has signed on to direct the prequel, which will be penned by screenwriters Rick Jaffa ("The Relic," "Eye for an Eye") and Amanda Silver ("The Relic," "The Hand that Rocks the Cradle"). The release is set for June 24, 2011.

It seems 20th Century Fox's Planet of the Apes prequel is coming closer to fruition as Rupert Wyatt's name has been reported as the project's director. Based on his last project, The Escapist, which won the British Independent Film Award for Best Achievement in Production, he looks to be a pretty good choice.
The news came from Deadline New York, which says there's still no firm start date for the project, which is based on a script by Rick Jaffa and Amanda Silver (co-writers of Eye for an Eye and The Relic).
With no other details available at this time, we'll be keeping a close watch on how this one plays out. In the meantime let's revisit this classic scene from the original:
