Andrew McCarthy's wife is slain and so is an extortionist or paid killer
17 November 2015 | by (United States) – See all my reviews

This neo-noir plotted mystery will keep you guessing. Who is the murderer of Andrew McCarthy's wife (Kate McNeil)? Did she have a lover? Did he do it? Was it her father-in-law (Kenneth Welsh), wanting possession of the grandchildren? Was it McCarthy's ambitious co-worker, Stan Egi? Was it Connie Britton who wants McCarthy for herself but hides her feelings? Was it McCarthy himself? Or was it some other person? There is also a man who gets shot who tried to extort money from McCarthy and told him that his wife had hired him to kill McCarthy. Cop Paul Sorvino investigates and so does McCarthy.

The rating of 5.7 is about right. As it suggests, this movie is indeed somewhat below par in how it comes across, at times rather obviously spreading red herrings around, and the final revelation is hard to accept. It does become somewhat tiresome. The drama needed to be heightened. It needed to be tightened up and sharpened.
