If one is capable of accepting as premise that a born and bred New York City mafioso, fleeing after killing the wrong man, makes his way to Oregon whereupon he immediately replaces his silk suit with lumberjack attire and promptly finds employment with a veteran logging crew, then one will soon enough accept the remainder of this film's silly scenario. Those who are enthralled with the Australian Chindown and Mumble School of acting will enjoy Costas Mandylor's performance as the born again timberman, Martin Niconi, and in several scenes he does nearly manage to change his expression, apparently enough to gain the hearts of a local lass (Megan Gallagher) and her son, but not enough to avoid intimidating most of the remaining cast who spend a goodly amount of their time in attempting to maim or kill him. The swiftly moving plot is continuously blemished by cartoonish violence of the type that stuntmen drool over, and the talented Gallagher and Allen Cutler as her son are wasted, but the scenery in California's El Dorado County is glorious, and the admittedly typed Jay Acovone again shines with an electric performance as the main mob executioner on the trail of Niconi.
