Character error

When Eddie asks Lily where she lives, she replies, "Kimbark and 54th". However, when he drops her off the street signs clearly show they are on Ellis and 48th.

When Eddie is hanging from the lift at the end of the movie, Lily is supposed to be in the lift. However, one shot shows no one in the lift. At the same time this goof happens, Lily is actually heard saying, "Hold on Eddie!"

Eddie is shown running towards the observatory. The dome is clearly closed and the ground is completely covered with snow. There's a quick cutaway to Lily using a laptop before the shot returns to the exterior. Now the dome is open and facing a different direction and there's almost no snow on the ground.

When Eddie is running to the observatory to get Lily when the police are chasing him, the sun appears very low in the horizon, like it is close to either sunrise or sunset. When they run out to the observatory's roof chased by the state trooper,it appears to be more mid-day.

In the scene where Eddie and Lily meet Shannon in the museum, they are on the second floor of the Field Museum of Natural History. While running from the guys in the same scene, however, they end up running through the Museum of Science and Industry, and then Eddie exits back through the front of the Field Museum.

Crew or equipment visible

In the shot taken from the top of the drawbridge looking down after the cop/stuntman has slid down off it you can see the landing pad quickly pushed out of view by the actors at the bottom.

Factual errors

Condolences are received from the British "Royal Academy" on the death of Dr. Alistair Barkley. The "Royal Academy" is an Arts institution; perhaps the writers' meant the "Royal Society." (Founded in 1660, the Royal Society is the independent scientific academy of the UK, dedicated to promoting excellence in science.)

At more than one point in the film, hydrogen is produced and seen to burn with a luminous yellow flame. This is incorrect: a stream of hydrogen burnt in air has an almost invisible flame with perhaps a slight trace of blue. Admittedly, this wouldn't show up very well in a film.

There seems to have been some confusion when writing the parts concerning the ostensible clean energy source - specifically, the writers are confusing the burning of hydrogen with hydrogen fusion. The two concepts meat almost head-on during Dr. Barkley's presentation in the beginning of the film; first, he holds up a glass of water and claims there's enough energy in it to power a whole city (which sort-of lines up with the energy density of hydrogen fusion), then almost immediately after goes on to speak about combustion of hydrogen.

It should be noted that while hydrogen fusion would indeed provide enormous amounts of energy, burning hydrogen derived from water produces less energy than it takes to split the water into oxygen and hydrogen.

Miscellaneous

When the cops (FBI Agents) are chasing Eddie in downtown, after he and Lily leave the Hyatt Hotel, Eddie runs toward a bridge. While he gets off the bridge, he slips under a truck. When he gets up to run away he is covered in oil and other gook. When he finally runs over to Lily in the cab he's completely clean.

Revealing mistakes

All scenes with hydrogen flames: hydrogen flames are pale blue and almost invisible. Yellow flames are due to burning carbon (soot). This suggests methane (or another hydrocarbon gas was used for the effects)
