Sex & Nudity

Sex in the film is graphic and frequent, especially during the mid course of the film.

A woman on her wedding day has sex with her husband in a public bathroom. No nudity is shown but the women can be seen taking off her panties and flashing her husband.

Violence & Gore

A man breaks a drinking glass by squeezing it. Glass can be seen embedded in the man's hand.

An explosion happens in a oil mining rig and a man is caught in the explosion. No blood or anything happens but the next incident is very intense.

A man is struck by a pole and this paralyses him.

A women's clothes are cut by a man who wants to watch the woman have sex with his friend.

A women threatens to shoot a man who wants to by now rape her.

Children throw rocks at a woman.

A women is presumably raped and beaten off-screen. We see the effects of this when she is brought into hospital. She dies.



Not a lot of profanity is said but the occasional swear word is tossed around.

Tart is the most heavily and hurtful profanity said; to the viewer it will be anyway.

During the course of the film a woman slowly changes into a prostitute to please her husband.

The film deals with obsession, love and a town's abandonment of a lovesick women, so in love with her husband that she whores herself.

A Lars Von Trier movie, 8/10 intense and emotional
