One of the closing shots of footage is of Steve and Ned pointing off into the distance. This image is nearly identical to the picture used on the cover of the film Bottle Rocket, also by Wes Anderson.
In the episode "Buck, Wild" Steve Smith goes hunting with his father Stan and Stan''s boss Deputy Director Bullock. Steve reluctantly shoots a deer and feels awful about it. Young Steve vows to raise two orphaned deer and teaches them to defend themselves against humans. Steve names his surrogate deer children Dignan and Apple Jack which are two characters from Wes Anderson''s debut film "Bottle Rocket."
