20 December 2004 | WENN | See recent WENN news »

Denise Richards has announced that she and her husband Charlie Sheen are expecting a baby - just 10 months after the birth of their daughter Sam. The child, due in June, will be the second for the couple, who welcomed Sam into the world on March 9 in Los Angeles. Richards' agent, Chuck James, tells People magazine, "They are incredibly thrilled and I couldn't think of a better Christmas present for the both of them and for little Sam." Sheen also has a daughter, Cassandra, 20, from a previous relationship. Richards, 33, and Sheen, 39, married in June 2002. They first met while shooting the movie Good Advice in 2000. But it wasn't until Richards guest starred on Sheen's former sitcom Spin City in autumn of 2001 that a romance began to blossom. »

ABC takes 'Desperate' measures Sunday

5 October 2004 | The Hollywood Reporter | See recent The Hollywood Reporter news »

ABC is looking like the network to beat on Sundays this season. The debut of its heavy promoted, critically lauded drama Desperate Housewives gave ABC its best series premiere marks in eight years -- since the 1996 bow of Spin City -- and topped CBS' CSI: NY, NBC's Joey and ABC's own Lost to rank as the highest-rated new series of the season. Housewives packed a wallop at 9 p.m. with an average of 21.3 million viewers and 8.7 rating/21 share in the adults 18-49 demographic, according to preliminary estimates from Nielsen Media Research. ABC's heavy off-air promotion of the show, an American Beauty-esque look at the lives of four suburban women, peaked in its second half-hour at 21.6 million viewers and 9.0/21 in the key demo. The most impressive numbers from Housewives might have been its across-the-board strength with male and female viewers in various age groups, particularly the elusive 18-34 set. »
