An above average mini-series about a murder and the subsequent guilt which weighs on the mind of a young man who helped to cover it up. The Bradleys, a mega-wealthy Catholic Irish-American family, buy and bully their way out of trouble, discarding the victims of their greed and immorality along the way. Patrick Dempsey plays Harrison Burns, an aspiring young writer from a working class background who, through his friendship with the favoured Bradley son Constant and his love of their daughter Kit, gets swept up materially and emotionally by the Bradley juggernaut until his conscience can no longer carry the burden of a terrible knowledge involving the Bradleys. A very strong cast including Brian Dennehy, Sherilyn Fenn, Craig Sheffer and Blair Brown has a great time devouring an excellent script aided by terrific production values. There is a strong sense of fatalism all the way through and the ending is not trite or sensationalist. A great way to spend two and a half hours.
