In the living room of Sabrina's college dorm was a street sign for Ashmont Terrace. Ashmont was the production company that William Asher and Elizabeth Montgomery had during the last few seasons of Bewitched (1964).
As of 2016, 'Sabrina, the Teenage Witch' remains only one out of four former TGIF sitcoms to have had its entire series released on DVD. 'Full House (TV Series 1987-1995)', 'Dinosaurs (TV Series 1987-1995)', and Boy Meets World are the only other TGIF shows to have seen a full DVD release.
The cat Salem is named after the Salem witch trials and just happens to live with three witches. In a later episode Sabrina goes on a field trip talking about the Salem witch trials which she herself is accused of being a witch by Libby and her friends.
Salem was a warlock who was transformed into cat by the Witches' Council as punishment for his plot on a world domination. In the 1993 film Hocus Pocus, Thackery Binx is transformed into a cat by 3 evil Sanderson witches as punishment for insulting them.
A timeless classic Bell Book and Candle(1959) had a strong influence on all the following films & TV serieses on witches,like Sabrina, the Teenage Witch, Charmed, A Good Witch & many more, creating a whole sub-geanre with a witches & warlocks subject.
They had to find a way to have Sabrina's Aunt Zelda be at Sabrina and Aaron's wedding seeing as Beth Broderick had left after season six, so they had her be a candle. The story was that she would be a candle so that Sabrina could see her mother on her wedding day.
In the first episode, on her 16th birthday, Sabrina's dad tells her, "if you set eyes on your mother in the next two years, she'll turn into a ball of wax." So she could see her after she turns 18 but in season 5 after she turns 19, her mother still gets turned into a ball of wax and Sabrina is told she can't ever look at her mother.
