When the Darkman Calls (1995) (TV)

**½ out of ****

Joan Van Ark stars in this entertaining, somewhat suspenseful thriller as a radio talk show host who receives numerous calls from a man who she accused of murdering her parents years ago. However, she eventually discovers that she put away the wrong man and that the right man is still out there and will kill again. Although Van Ark and the majority of the cast does a great job, it has atmospheric photography and direction, and a creepy music score, this film eventually collapses under its own weight from a plot that it just can't carry. The ending isn't much of a twist as it is said to be. A thoroughly enjoyable and somewhat suspenseful thriller that's overall well-made, but spoiled towards the end.

Rated R for Violence, Mild Profanity and Sex
