Continuity: Bobby Lee's hands on her hips as Bobby Ray approaches wearing the formal dress.
Continuity: The book Vita gives the stuttering boy goes from paperback to hard cover
Continuity: Near the end of the movie, Carol Ann is saying goodbye to Vida and Carol Ann's hair is in a ponytail. In the next shot, her hair is loose in the back and not a ponytail.
Continuity: Before Sheriff Dullard pulls out from a side road you can see his patrol car following them with all its lights off.
Continuity: The "girls" are settled-in and relaxing in their pajamas, lingerie, and bunny slippers. Problem is, they were not carrying any baggage when they got their lift into town. Then, while they are still dressed this way, they look out the window to see their car being towed-in.
Continuity: When they first enter the little town after their car breaks down, they are led to a little room where they are to stay and Chi Chi runs to shut off the light that Carol Ann just turned on. The light alternately switches from off when the camera is on Chi Chi in the middle of the room, to on when the camera is on Noxeema and Vida and Carol Ann at the door.
Continuity: Toward the end of the movie, the girls are hiding in their hotel room. A young girl comes to the door and asks for Miss Vida and Auntie Noxi. Before she opens the door, there is nothing on the back side of the door except a hanging dress. Seconds later when she closes the door, Chi-Chi is hanging on the back of the door.
Continuity: When Virgil is in the kitchen at the stove, he has his forefinger in his mouth tasting the stew. Then the camera switches views and he is pulling his middle finger out of his mouth.
Continuity: When Sheriff Dollard turns on his lights and follows the girls, the cruiser has four square headlights (likely a Dodge Diplomat). But when Chi Chi turns to look behind the Cadillac, the cruiser has two large, round headlights. Then when they pull off the road, the cruiser is a 4-light Dodge again!
Continuity: When Vida and Noxeema first encounter Chi Chi on the stairs, she is wearing both of her gloves. When Vida sits next to her a second later, Chi Chi is wearing only one glove, and is holding the other in her hand.
Continuity: In the early scene where the girls are seated at a night club table with John Jacob Jingleheimer Schmidt (Robin Williams,) his hat does some amazing things. Between shots of Schmidt and the girls, his hat brim goes from just above his eyebrows to a point well above the hairline and continues to alternate for about six separate shots.
Revealing mistakes: On the movie poster, Vida, Noxeema and Chi-Chi are seen in a somewhat brand new blue Cadillac. But in the movie the Cadillac they drove in was yellow. Also on the movie poster, Chi-Chi is wearing a yellow and pink dress, but in the movie at the drag queen contest, Chi-Chi's dress was green and pink.
Revealing mistakes: The "girls" repeatedly spend entire days in the car although by nightfall, no one has even a hint of a five o'clock shadow or a beard.
Revealing mistakes: Although the evening weather is so chilly that that the characters' breath can be seen whenever they talk, no one is wearing a coat and Vita puts the top down on their convertible.
Continuity: Vida gives clerk in the general store a paperback edition of Diana Vreeland's memoirs; moments later clerk is leafing through a hardback edition of that book.
Continuity: Vida knocks over container of sugar cubes on table at outdoor cafe; in next shot, container and cubes have disappeared.
Errors made by characters (possibly deliberate errors by the filmmakers): When Noxema is reeling off titles of films made by Dorothy Dandridge, his/her favorite star, actor Wesley Snipes accidentally mangles title of Sun Valley Serenade, turning it into meaningless Serenade Sun Valley. This is not something the character, a hardcore Dandridge fan, would have done.
