Trivia

A year later, Capcom release an interactive movie game simply titled Street Fighter II: Movie for PlayStation and Sega Saturn. They also released the CP System-II prequel to the original game called Street Fighter Alpha: Warriors' Dreams (known as Street Fighter Zero in Japan, Asia, South America and Australia) the prequel borrowed many of elements from the animated movie such as Master Bison's muscular body, Master Bison's VTOL jet is shown in endings, the idea of Ken's long hair originated from the animated movie, Ryu and Ken versus Master Bison in a secret "dramatic battle" stage in the original arcade version while in the Japan arcade version of the game features an instrumental QSound rendition of "Itoshisa To Setsunasa To Kokoro Tsuyosa To" is played instead of Master Bison's regular theme in that game, the overhaul Street Fighter Alpha/Zero 2 [1996] and the sequel Street Fighter Alpha/Zero 3 [1998] also borrowed many elements from SFII: the animated movie and they released an anime series by Manga Entertainment called Street Fighter II: Victory also directed by Gisaburo Sugii. Goofs

In the American version of this film, in the scene where Chun-Li is briefing her Interpol superior, profiles of Sagat, Balrog and Vega are shown. In Vega's profile, under the name section, it is written "VEGA" but under the comments section, Vega is referred to as "Balrog." This is because "Balrog" is the actual name of the character that is known as "Vega" to American audiences. In Japan, Vega is known as "Balrog," Balrog is known as "M. Bison" or "Mike Bison," and M. Bison is known as "Vega." What the characters are called by in Japan are the original, actual names for the characters in the Street Fighter franchise. When editing this film for American audiences, the editors successfully changed Vega's profile so that "VEGA" appeared in the name section instead of "BALROG" but missed making the same edit in the comments section of the profile. Quotes

Guile: Bison's ass is mine.
Chun-Li: What do you mean, Captain?
Guile: I don't need Interpol's or anyone else's help to take him out.
Chun-Li: Hey, Brush-Head! This is not a request!
Guile: [Dryly] You want Bison destroyed, don't you? So what's the problem?

Pure Street fighting action, dag nammit! HADOKEN !
28 June 2003 | by (England) – See all my reviews

Street fighter the animated movie is a well animated fight fest that serves as a superior companion piece to the revolutionary fighting game on which this anime is based .

Its silly plot is full of holes and would make little sense to a non street fighter fan but not to worry, the story is merely an excuse for street fighter characters to dragon punch and shin kick the hell out of each other, and its in this department that the film delivers on a huge scale.

The battles that these characters have are truly incredible to watch! Well thought out, well animated and just astounding to gawk at, they work just as well as the best live action fight sequences out there. The two stand out fights are a masterfully executed battle between Chun li and Vega that will make your jaw drop and the final climatic battle of the film which wraps everything up in an adrenalin pumping fashion .The animated fighting on display here more than makes up for the films faults like its annoyingly slow establishing shots that seem to go on forever.

Street fighter the animated movie is first-rate animated action that does its source material justice and allows you to contemplate on how good that garbage live action version could have been.

Knowledge gives this : 4 out of 5 (It makes me want to throw fireballs baby!)
