Greed and vengeance

8/10
Author: mike palmiter (aerorr@rtccom.net) from United States

*** This review may contain spoilers ***

As the story goes, a little girl's parents were killed in an auto accident and she carries hate for the rich other driver (actor Kevin McCarthy) well into adulthood with a plan to assume the identity of a forsaken daughter-in-law. She (actress Kate Vernon) becomes the supposed widow of the rich driver's deceased son by killing the real widow with the help of a lover, which she also later kills.

Part of her plan is to also kill-off the rich old guy (which she does)after gaining his trust and later an inheritance of millions, to be split with the rich guy's daughter.

But gaining millions via this ruse isn't enough. The convoluted subplots are confusing if not watched for carefully. Add a couple more murders and viewers have the finale of the the fake daughter-in-law getting what's coming to her.

It's not really a bad movie (with it's share of flaws) but the real treat is seeing gorgeous Kate Vernon in another good acting role.

Another Dumb TVM

3/10
Author: Theo Robertson from Isle Of Bute, Scotland
21 August 2002

Imagine you stole someone`s identity and the in laws of that person invited you stay with them , how long would you be able to keep up the pretense ? Probably indefinitely if the in laws are as stupid as the ones here . You`d think they`d ask some searching questions to their daughter in law about their son wouldn`t you ? But that never happens . And seeing as so much water has passed underneath the bridge in the first place it never become clear why they wanted to meet their son`s wife in the first place . It`s not only the father and daughter in law who are dumb it seems everyone in this American state is too . Shrinks seem to keep sharpened scissors lying about in their office when meeting mentally ill patients and doctors are unable to tell the difference between people who have been murdered and those who have died by suicide and natural causes. There`s far too much suspension of disbelief in this TVM . Mind you this premise might have been quite good as a comedy instead of an unthrilling TVM . Hopefully we`ll see this remade with Cameron Diaz and Matt Dillon in the near future
