This based on a true story movie was one of best ones made in Poland in 1990s. Very entertaining, with a very good plot and acting, it takes place in Poland right after WWII ended and the communists established themselves as new rulers of the country, with the help of the Soviets. After 45 years of communist regime and propaganda there's finally some taste of the truth: the Soviets are portrayed as arrogant aggressors, rather than friendly-disposed harmless allies. The story's about an army doctor-officer, who through disguising himself as a very important member of the communist Party manages to save many members of the Underground Army (AK) from the paws of UB (Polish equivalent of NKVD), which tortured and brutally murdered thousands of people in late 1940s and 1950s. He does it for fun at first, and then he becomes genuinely involved in this, getting himself into deeper and deeper danger as he travels around the country, making bolder and bolder journeys into the lion's den. It's a race against time, as his dumb but cruel foes are sure to learn about his activities sooner or later. Never boring, a lot of fun and excitement. Excellent historical value. Highly recommended.
