Could Dame Helen Mirren play the 12th Doctor? Of course she could. Will she? Meh, who knows? According to a gossip publication – so again, who knows – she said she’d love to. It’s a tiny little article and has no context, so she may have just been trying to get them to go away. On the other hand, How Cool If It Were To Happen!
Here’s the quote from Daily Star – in fact, here’s the entire article, entitled Helen Mirren Thinks Time Dr Who Changed:
The legendary actress, 66, told us: “I would like to play the new female Doctor Who. I don’t want to just be his sidekick.” That’d be worth a watch.

Harry Judd has admitted that he is desperate to win Strictly Come Dancing following McFly bandmate Dougie Poynter's I'm a Celebrity...Get Me Out of Here victory. The 'Party Girl' star said that he would be "disappointed" to lose out after all the effort he has invested in the BBC contest over the past months. "Before Dougie went into the jungle we joked, 'Imagine if we both won'," he told the Daily Mail. "Now Dougie has and I'm in the semis." He added: "I sit down and I just feel sick and totally drained with anxiety [before the shows]... I'd be lying if I said I didn't really want to win it. I'll be disappointed if I don't. I can't concentrate on (more) »

The new season of CSI: NY could use a party girl so they went and hired Olivia Crocicchia to come on to the crime procedural and party to her hearts content while simultaneously becoming a murder suspect. You may recognize Crocicchia on FX’s now completed Rescue Me as one of Denis Leary’s daughters, Katy. Because there are only a limited number of names you can be called on TV, Crocicchia will be playing a teenager named Kate on CSI: NY.
According to TV Guide, Kate is a high school student attending a party where another girl is killed. The CSI team start pointing fingers at Kate when it’s discovered the victim had humiliated Kate through some stunt. It must have been pretty embarrassing if they suspect Kate committed murder over it. You’d have to be pretty unhinged to kill over a prank. »

When Tyra Banks announced that Cycle (Season) 17 of "America's Next Top Model" would be an "All-Star" edition featuring past contestants, we were concerned that the show would be more about catfights and less about the catwalk. The show's name is "America's Next Top Model," not "America's Second Chance Top Model." How would these also-rans (many of whom are in their late 20s or even 30s) succeed in an industry that embraces youth and is always looking for the next new face? The cast shots were recently released, and fall back upon the stereotypes the girls portrayed in their prior seasons. Click on the "Launch Gallery" button below to see the photos: Conservative Shannon is portrayed as an angel, while icy Camille dons a sparkly bodysuit. Party girl Lisa is doing the splits, masculine Dominique sports a tie, bombshell Sheena poses provocatively, country bumpkin Laura holds a fishing pole, and wide-eyed »

As much as I find his whiny, macho-aggressive public persona unappealing – and while he certainly isn't your standard-issue Hollywood hunk – I just can't help but have a thing for Shia LeBeouf. It's hard to describe what it is, exactly – the mischievous glint in his eyes, perhaps? The smart-ass grin? The way his nostrils flare when he's angry? The come-hither bedroom stare he's prone to adopting in photo spreads?
There's just something about him that I can't quite put my finger on – something that makes me swoon, even as I feel guilty doing it.
In any case, given that my shame-based Young Hollywood crush is coming out in a new film this week – you might have heard of it, a little under-the-radar independent effort called Transformers: Dark of the Moon? – I thought it might be fun to look at a few other unconventional Hollywood sex symbols – those unlikely heartthrobs who manage »

Though I don't recall when it began -- maybe with Rope as just discussed? -- I've been obsessed with one-take scenes for what seems like forever. You know the kind. It's that thrilling moment when the editor seems to go out for a smoke break and the director allows the film and/or performances to fully breathe. That free breathing is probably an illusion since the scenes must be rigidly corseted by the technical and performative choreography required to get it all without "coverage".
When you see a great one take scene or film, even if that "one" take is partly a matter of film trickery (examples: Atonement, Children of Men basically the entirety of Alfred Hitchcock's Rope and Aleksandr Sukorov's Russian Ark and a scene we just discussed from 25 years ago in Peggy Sue Got Married) it can be hard to return to the world of "regular" filmmaking »

Though openly-gay Newsweek journalist Ramin Setoodeh’s infamous 2010 article “Straight Jacket” was certainly a misguided piece of criticism, it unfortunately brought to light an all-too-common misconception held by both Hollywood decision makers and members of the public at large – that gay actors are incapable of adequately portraying straight characters on-screen.
History, of course, shows that ludicrous assertion to be entirely false – particularly considering the number of closeted gay actors from earlier eras who vaulted to stardom specifically because they were able to convincingly portray straight romantic leads.
Of course, those were much more intolerant times – times in which actors were continuously pressured to hide their sexuality for fear they’d be rejected if the truth came out (a sadly valid point in those days). Now, however – while we still have a long way to go – there’s an emerging crop of openly-gay actors who are proving it’s possible to »

In Thursday's (March 31) batch of TV Snacks, we have old friends making new deals and a British favorite that will soon have an American twin.
Indie film queen Parker Posey (who we fell in love with when we saw "Party Girl") is guest starring on the next season of Showtime's "The Big C." She'll play a four-episode arc as Poppy, an older woman who develops an unlikely relationship with Cathy's (Laura Linney) teenaged son, Adam (Gabriel Basso). Also, Brit actor Hugh Dancy ("Black Hawk Down") has signed on for six episodes as Lee, a charming cancer patient who, after a rocky start, befriends Cathy during their time in an experimental drug trial. [Showtime]
In other "Big C" related news, its exec producer/ showrunner, Jenny Bicks, has signed on to a two-year, seven figure deal with Sony Pictures Television. Bicks, the former Ep for "Sex and the City" also has several feature films in the hopper. »
Apparently prosaic, these grids hide portals to the underworld. Follow us down into the sewers of a cinematic obsession
On the face of it, a manhole cover isn't particularly romantic. It keeps a lid on the sewer and a floor on the road. The only time you notice them is when there's steam pouring out around them … or when they're simply not there at all and you fall into the hole one was covering. They're not as interesting as what's above or below, or what happens going between the two.
Pause for just a moment, though, and the cover becomes something far less prosaic. It's covering up a slim, mysterious passage that's already been opened up. Either someone needs access to the sombre underbelly of the street or to preserve an exit route from it. The cover itself means you have to make the decision to get in or out »

Penn was very hands-on with a girl who looks nothing like his ex, dancing (and making out) with an exotic-looking brunette at Liv nightclub in Miami.
Moreover, they were standing on the tabletops for all the see!
As for why Penn was hanging with that random crew (minus Chace), a source says they share the same manager, who flew them down to party.
Ah, that makes perfect sense. That's how we choose where and with whom to go clubbing, am I right guys? As for his former lady love Blake ...
