Pierce Brosnan To Work In I.T.

3 October 2013 5:24 PM, PDT | EmpireOnline | See recent EmpireOnline news »

Just because Pierce Brosnan has signed on to star in a film called I.T. doesn’t mean you can all break out the “Have you tried turning it off and on again?” gags. But the idea of a computer technician causing trouble is at the core of the film, which Stefano Sollima is set to direct.Brosnan is set to play successful book publisher who somehow manages to annoy a young, disgruntled I.T. consultant. Naturally, because his nemesis is tech savvy, he decides to threaten Brosnan’s life, family and income. By, we’re guessing, deleting all his bookmarks. The swine!Dan Kay wrote the script, working from an idea by producer David T. Friendly, and it all sounds a little bit like an updated version of The Net with Brosnan in the Sandra Bullock role (only less skilled). We sort of wish they'd cast Chris O’Dowd or Richard Ayoade as the vengeful compu-type, »

2 October 2013 2:51 PM, PDT | | See recent JoBlo news »

Is a second installment of The Heat in Sandra Bullock's future? It's not likely according to her. .I.m not doing a sequel to .The Heat. done two sequels. They were horrible. What Melissa and I had was beautiful. We might do another film together. I think we should do a silent film together.. Which sequels could she be referring to? Miss Congeniality 2: Armed And Fabulous, Speed 2: Cruise Control, and The Net 2: Web Of Lies. Okay, scratch that last one off (we can dream). All »

Why I love … movie computers

23 August 2013 5:31 AM, PDT | The Guardian - Film News | See recent The Guardian - Film News news »

Hollywood makes working on computers look like endless fun, but it sure isn't like this in the office

Why we love … the quarry in Breaking Away … the dribbly snog in Little Women … the Addams Family's take on Thanksgiving

I'm gazing at a computer screen right this minute, and you are, too. If you have an office job, like I do, your view is just this, eight hours or so a day, five days a week. Boxes containing type and numbers are euphemistically called windows; tiny pictures that launch yet more windows go by the grand title of icons. If you're lucky, you will have customised the "wallpaper" of your virtual home, and catch glimpses of a holiday snap, or your family's faces when a window shrinks. Many of us log on to a handkerchief of granite grey on a Monday morning, and say goodbye to it on a Friday evening »

'The Internship' Review: 10 Things to Know About the Vince Vaughn and Owen Wilson Comedy

6 June 2013 4:03 AM, PDT | Moviefone | See recent Moviefone news »

This weekend, "The Internship" hits theaters nationwide, just in time to scare a new crop of college graduates into thinking that their lives are going to be really, really different if they don't find a top tier job right out of the gate. The film stars Vince Vaughn and Owen Wilson as a pair of out-of-work watch salesmen (wait, what?) who decide to bluff their way into an internship at the most prestigious place ever: Google. They soon learn that getting hired at Google isn't going to be a walk in the search engine park, and have to band together with a team of ragtag outsiders to complete a series of tasks.

Full disclosure: "The Internship" is easily one of the most excruciatingly painful moviegoing experiences this writer has had all year. Even though it's about a high-tech company, every joke feels like it's been sitting on a shelf for years, »

The new Internet Explorer ad: what's the point?

15 March 2013 11:00 PM, PDT | The Guardian - TV News | See recent The Guardian - TV News news »

'This voice – let's just call him "L Ron 9000" – gives us a series of illustrated examples of the slower technological times we operated in'

If Justin Timberlake can make Myspace relevant again, can a comeback for Internet Explorer be that far away? True, it doesn't help that in the totem of "ex 'N Sync members that this web browser is most like" Ie is probably best described as "a Chris Kirkpatrick type". But this new ad from Microsoft attempts to re-position it as the browser of choice for the modern consumer. "You might not remember us but we met in the 90s," says Californian voiceover man. It's the type of all-too-calm voice you could imagine issuing orders at you as you scoop rocks out of a freezing stream in Sea Org with your hands. Or insisting, "I'm sorry, Dave. I'm afraid I can't do that, »
