DVD Releases: Sept 8, 2009: It's the Nature of the Beast to Keep Live Animals on Harper's Island

7 September 2009 7:54 PM, PDT | DreadCentral.com | See recent Dread Central news »

Aside from the better than it should have been "Harper's Island" (review), the pick of this week's DVD crop seems to be a couple of Blu-ray re-releases: Creepshow and Freddy vs. Jason.

But there are also some mostly unknown but semi-interesting sounding indies like Greetings, Night of the Dribbler that Foy reminded us about recently (story here), and Nature of the Beast about a young couple planning their wedding who encounter a small hitch: The groom is a werewolf.

And just as a reminder, holding down the "shift" key while clicking on the Evilshop title heading below will take you to a page with all the various DVD releases over the past several months. It's a good way to see what you might be missing in your DVD collections.

Creepshow (Bd) - Warner Bros.

Amazon.com says: Inspired by the controversial E.C. Comics of the 1950s--which also provided the title and inspiration for the popular Tales from the Crypt TV series--director George Romero and screenwriter Stephen King serve up five delightfully frightful stories. Utilizing comic-book panels, animated segues, and exaggerated lighting and camera angles, Romero and cinematographer Michael Gornick come very close to replicating a horror comic in film format. The results mix fine acting with the morbid sense »
