I remember seeing this movie, shortly after it's release, at the Theatre Gwynedd in Bangor. I was a student at the time and going to the cinema was a cheap way to spend an evening. As I remember it there were only about a dozen people in the audience. I think this was a combination of several factors...it was December (and cold), the film had not received much in the way of advertising and it's entirely in Welsh. The Welsh language part wasn't a problem at all because, like most foreign language films that you encounter, it was subtitled. But, you ask, What was it about? Was it any good? It was about a Welsh boy's coming of age and I still haven't made up my mind whether or not it was good! It is definitely surreal and contains interesting characters and an unusual story. Some of the camera work is excellent and the acting, in the main, is very good. One particular scene, where the boy uncovers a mirror, half buried in the sand on a beach, and a sea gull fly out of it, still stands out vividly in my mind. But the over riding feeling that the movie has left me with is a desire to see it again, perhaps so that I can decided whether it was good or only passable. Unfortunately this is unlikely ever to happen as the film has never been released on DVD or VHS and I doubt if it will ever enjoy a cinematic re-release. A pity really as I'm sure that the movie had a lot going for it and a lot to say, even if it may have taken several watchings to fully appreciate exactly what it was trying to say!
