Low-Class Fun Comedy-Horror Flick, 6 April 2006

This gets decent marks only for one reason: it's entertaining. Other
than that, it has no redeeming value, is classless, has poor acting and
even poorer dialog....but sure was fun to watch a couple of times.
The Leprechaun (Warwick Davis) has some very funny lines and rhymes and
is the undisputed star of the show. There are a lot of special effects
used for both comedy and for horror. This is the third of about four of
these type of films, and the only one I thought worth keeping, mainly
for the laughs. Eventually, the quality of the tape was so bad I canned
it. Maybe I should check out the DVD, which was subsequently released.
Lee Armstrong provided the female lead role and she was a pretty woman
but obviously not much of an actress and few people have heard of her
before or since.
If you want something stupid but entertaining, a good mix of horror and
comedy, this little dirty Leprechaun should fill the bill....but only
this edition. Don't bother with the rest in the series.

My favorite of the series., 29 September 2000

Of all the "Leprechaun" films, I found this one the funniest. You've got to love his little sayings and remarks. I found the plot entertaining from start to finish, with swell acting and directing, not to mention the comedy! If you want to pick a funny horror flick, rent "Leprechaun 3", you won't be disappointed, unless you're expecting real horror, of course.

The Best and the Worst One so far, 14 April 2004

"Leprechaun 3" is simultaneously better and worse than Lep 1 & 2. It pulls
this off by have a terrible "Act One" (the first 45 minutes), but an
entertaining "Act Two" (the last 45 minutes). I'm sorry, but with the
exception of the Leprechaun character, Mark Jones cannot write convincing
dialogue to save his life. I felt bad for actor John Gatins (playing Scott
McCoy), who as the young college kid was saddled with some of the most
unconvincing dialogue... well, ever. It was almost unwatchable, this "Act
One". Then the story changes in "Act Two" with "Scott" getting infected
with the Leprechaun's blood, and after that it's nothing but a good
time.
One cool thing is that this time, Warwick Davis gets to speak nearly all of
his dialogue in rhyme, and in "Act Two" he's downright funny at times.
Davis really carries these films, without him they'd be unwatchable. With
him, the Leprechaun has a destructive charm that's just fun to
watch.

Las Vegas gets more then it bargained for when a lawn ornament turns into a nasty leprechaun!, 28 December 1998

Warwick Davis returns to his role as the spiteful leprechaun who'll kill anyone for his gold! This time the leprechaun must get back one of his gold coins which is making its way through the hands of patrons at the Lucky Shamrock Hotel & Casino. The third entry is not up to the level of Part 1 (whatever that was), yet features such surrealistic sites as the leprechaun impersonating Elvis, strolling amongst nudie bars, and taking up the part of an E.R. doctor. This installment has more of the leprechaun's delightful limericks and rhymes then its predecessors - and that is a definite plus. Skeeter rates it 3 out of 4, maybe 3 1/4 on St. Patrick's Day.

The best film in the LEPRECHAUN franchise!, 5 May 2005

In Part 3 to this popular direct to video series, yet another evil
Leprechaun is freed from it's imprisonment (It had a necklace around
it's neck that turned it into stone a plot device that later turned up
in the disastrous fifth instalment to the series, LEPRECHAUN IN THE
HOOD) & goes on a killing spree, after a college student named Scott
just passing through Vegas on his way to college, stops & picks up a
beautiful assistant to a mediocre magician, after the heroine has car
trouble. Taking her to a casino, Scott begs her to help him get in,
even though he's not the legal age to be gambling. Tammy gets Scott in,
when Scott promises just to look around & not gamble, however once
inside, Scott is hit with gambling fever & decides to give it a try,
using money his parents gave him for college. Unfortunately luck is
definitely not on Scott's side, as he loses everything thanks to the
crooked manager of the casino rigging everything so people can't win at
any of the games. At the pawnshop to pawn off his watch, Scott finds
the owner brutally killed & the Leprechaun's lost gold coin & decides
to use the coin & make a wish to be on a winning streak. The coin works
when Scott turns his unlucky night into a night of success. Scott wins
over a hundred thousand dollars! However he also becomes a marked man,
as several employees of the Casino want the coin & so does the
Leprechaun, killing whomever gets their hands on it to get it back.
After biting Scott, Scott turns into a leprechaun monster himself &
after going on a potato eating spree, he discovers the only way to end
the curse & kill the Leprechaun is to destroy it's gold. LEPRECHAUN 3
is easily the best film in the series. The film is full of great in
jokes, wise cracks, bad, but funny puns & pretty decent special
effects, an easy flowing pace, good acting & directing. In terms of the
plot the film is not to different from the previous two entries. The
Leprechaun is freed from it's prison, looses it's shilling & then goes
on a rampage to get it back. What's different about this shilling, is
the fact that it can grant a persons wish. Director BRIAN TRENCHNARD
SMITH who also helmed NIGHT OF THE DEMONS 2 the previous year, also
brings back some of the same cast members & crew who worked on that
film. The most humorous & fun cameo's from the NIGHT OF THE DEMONS 2
cast is Father Bob, striking it rich at one of the game tables. Most
notably about this entry is how the film has more gore than all the
others. Like the first two, the body count is extremely low (About
five) but that doesn't mean the kills are lame, far from it, since
LEPRECHAUN 3 can lay claim to having the most zaniest off the wall
kills in the history of horror cinema & above all the others in the
franchise! A muscle man working for a mafia kingpin coughs up quarters
(Not a kill, but pretty nifty stuff) an ageing employee of the Casino
wishes for bigger breasts, a bigger butt & to be young again & gets her
wish, only to have the Leprechaun make her lips, butt & breasts grow to
gigantic proportions causing her to explode! A sleazy, crooked casino
owner is making out with a nude big breasted hot babe that emerges from
the TV set & then she electrocutes him when she morphs into a killer
android with all it's mechanical body exposed, with the exception of
it's face & boobs! Later the Leprechaun even attends a magic show,
where he take the old "Saw the person in half" trick a bit to far! The
film's Leprechaun monster also has many similarities to the first f
ilm's creature, both have 100 pieces of gold. The films humour is one
of the many joyful things about it., Lep meets Elvis Prestly & imitates
him. A guy with the word "Lucky" tattooed to his hand tries to pawn off
the Leprechaun statue, telling the clerk it will bring him good luck,
yet this guy who's trying to sell it, has a missing eye, a missing hand
& a missing leg! Several things don't make sense though, when Scott
first discovers the body early on in the film he calls the cops, yet
none of them show up & it's never mentioned in the rest of the film,
especially when Scott & the heroine return to the pawn shop hours later
& discover the body still there & there's no cops around! Also I find
it a little hard to believe that no one else would have walked into
this shop in all that time. Another thing that doesn't make sense is,
the Leprechaun bites Scott & turns him into a leprechaun, yet the film
never does answer the question as to why? surely the Leprechaun
realizes after all these centuries that it's bites can turn a person so
why did it do it? it obviously doesn't want competition? as with the
last couple films & the ones after it, there's a different way to kill
the creature, this time is to burn it's gold. Also worth noting is that
this is the first Leprechaun film to not have a kill until the half
hour mark. Highly recommended to horror fans, but if you didn't like
any of the other ones, perhaps it's best you ignore this one. With Part
2 being released a week apart from NIGHT OF THE DEMONS 2 & with this
sequel arriving a mere ten months after LEPRECHAUN 2, one has to wonder
if all three of the films weren't shot back to back. Director Smith
later returned to helm the fourth film in the series LEPRECHAUN 4 the
very next year.

This one is far campier than the first two movies and this makes for a more enjoyable film. One of the few movie series to actually improve with time. This one is so funny, I have a hard time categorizing it as a horror movie, but beware this still isn't something to show your young children.

He's back! The Leprechaun is on the loose again, this time trying his
luck in Las Vegas. The terror begins when a young college student;Scott
MCcoy(John Gatins) gives a beautiful magician's assistant;Tammy
Larsen(Lee Armstrong)a lift into town.
Once in Vegas, Scott can't resist taking a turn at the roulette wheel.
He has a run of bad luck and loses all his money. To win it back he
decides to pawn his Rolex watch, but while at the pawn shop he finds
one of the Leprechaun's gold shillings. A single piece of Leprechaun's
gold, he discovers, will grant the fondest wish of the one who holds
it.
Thanks to the lucky coin, Scott goes on a winning streak.
Unfortunately, the Leprechaun know his coin is missing and he will
gladly kill to get it back. And kill he will.
Along with more magic and a lot more funny gags this hits up as the
third best of the Leprechaun series. I believe the best death was the
Saw treatment Fazio(John DeMita)got. But Loretta(Caroline
Williams),Gupta(Marcelo Tubert) and Mitch's(Michael Callan) deaths are
good too. And this time we get to see two leprechauns dook it out with
brains,brawns and humor.
Lets see what we learn in this movie:
1)A leprechaun loves potatoes 2)A leprechaun has a hideous stomach.(If
their stomachs are like that I wonder what everything else looks like.)
3)Leprechaun gold can grant one wish. (That's one gold piece. So if you
got 100 pieces of gold I guess you get 100 wishes.)

this time the jolly old Leprechaun goes to Las Vegas. this one is quite a bit more funnier than the previous two. although not quite as good in storyline , but good nonetheless. in this one you actually get to see some people make wishes with the elusive gold coin, the coin get's passed from one person to another, and it always seems like the little Leprechaun is always one step behind,, the interesting thing in this one is that the leprechaun bites our "hero" in the arm,, and the "hero" has shades of becoming a fellow Leprechaun, interesting premise here, he actually starts to look a little bit like one, there is a lot of scenes in the casino,, and views of the Las Vegas Strip.. the Freemont Experience and a few of the Casino Hotels.. not a bad movie,, pretty funny.

Easily my favorite of the series. It's the most fun!, 4 February 2009

After getting the Leprechaun trilogy as one of my gifts for Christmas,
I decided to watch them all right away, because I had been dying to
view the first. Leprechaun 3 was just overall so much more enjoyable
than I expected it to be. The cast and crew just had so much fun with
all the material and since they knew they weren't going to make a
star-studded masterpiece, they went with the best option and created a
hilarious and exciting "camp gem", unlike the second one which took
itself too seriously, and look how that turned out.
Leprechaun 3 is just non-stop laugh out loud entertainment. With rhymes
like the leprechaun makes in this one, you can't help but laugh your
tail off at how cheesy and humorous the whole film is. Also, I guess
since the acting wasn't as low as you can get in some movies of this
caliver, it made the movie even more tolerable and likable, and since
the leprechaun was more lovable, the film was more lovable. Plus, the
main guy in this film is not too bad on the eyes, such as eye candy
Jennifer Aniston in the first.
Overall, there has got to be something anyone and everyone could like
about this film. It deserves higher appreciation than the first and
second put together for being so incredibly fun and humorous, like I
have already mentioned, and is worthy of any positive reception it
receives in fact, in honest my opinion.

Leprechaun 3 is not great, but is a little better than Leprechaun 2. Leprechaun loses some gold, kills some people in Vegas, and the gold's power hurts more than helps the people who have possession of it. Leprechaun 3 has some funny scenes that supposed to be scary, but are so poor they are comical, I would rent this for stupid scary scenes, nudity, and killing. Leprechaun 3 is bad and the sequels are somehow worse if you can believe that.
