The content of this page was created directly by users and has not been screened or verified by IMDb staff.
Since the beliefs that parents want to instill in their children can vary greatly, we ask that instead of adding your personal opinions about what is right or wrong in a film, that you instead use this new feature to help parents make informed viewing decisions by describing the facts of relevant scenes in the title for each one of the different categories: Sex and Nudity, Violence and Gore, Profanity, Alcohol/Drugs/Smoking, and Frightening/Intense Scenes .
Visit our Parents Guide Help to learn more

Sex & Nudity

Some regular sequences of animated full frontal nudity (mostly all involved the film's main hero Motoko Kusanagi) but presented without any sexual connotations. Despite being full frontal, only the top part is visually graphic.

When Kusanagi is nude like this, she is wearing body camouflage that, when turned off, reveals her body. In one scene she is clothed again after making use of the camo.

Violence & Gore

Some occasional sequences of strong animated bloody sci-fi violence: mainly involving hand-to-hand combat, shoot-outs, and our main hero Motoko getting torn apart by a tank towards the film's climax.

Profanity

One or two uses of the word 'fuck'. Although it does differ between various audio dubbings.

Alcohol is consumed by cyborgs Motoko Kusanagi and Batou. They discuss how they can "toss them back" without getting drunk and can't have hangovers in the morning because of how quickly their cybernetic bodies break down the alcohol.

Psychological thematic scenes of the film's futuristic cyborg society is its core subject matter.
