A lovely, inspiring film about brave, wonderful women ensuring other women have the right to live their lives the way they wanted and needed to, and to also decide when it was right to have a child and when it wasn't. Many of the women went on to fight broadly for women's reproductive rights, from midwifery to abortions, artificial insemination to sexual health education and all affordable.
It follows both women who were in "the service" and follows their journey from housewives, students, and others to courageous women performing in a time where abortion was illegal and mostly regulated to back alleys where women often died.
To the poster from Sri Lanka. Nobody performs saline abortions anymore. They are hard on the woman and therefore other methods are used. Jane was NOT "teen-oriented". It started as a college info line, and went on to serve all of Chicago.
Way to lie to women about a film you haven't actually watched.
