Storyline

"All men are not created equal. It is the purpose of the Government to make them so." This is the premise of the Showtime film adaption of Kurt Vonnegut's futuristic short story Harrison Bergeron. The film centers around a young man (Harrison) who is smarter than his peers, and is not affected by the usual "Handicapping" which is used to train all Americans so everyone is of equal intelligence. Solid adaption of Vonnegut's short story
28 January 2000 | by (Toronto) – See all my reviews

I thought this was a fine adaption of Kurt Vonnegut's short story and I am a huge fan of Vonnegut's work. I wasn't expecting much because Vonnegut does not translate very well to the screen (big and small) but I was happy to see they got the tone, theme and style right on the nose. Christopher Plummer is perfectly cast.
