Kate and Charlie have a perfect life planned out before them: buying a house, marriage, kids, the whole works. Kate's fear of flying keeps her in Canada while Charlie goes to Paris for a medical convention. While there Charlie is smitten by the lovely Juliette. He calls off the wedding with Kate and she nervously boards a plane to get him back. She ends up sitting next to the petty French thief Luc Teyssier. He hides a stolen necklace and smuggled grape vine in her bag to get it through customs. Her bag is stolen, the necklace apparently lost, and Kate and Luc head to Cannes -- Luc to find the necklace and Kate get Charlie back. Along the way, Kate and Luc begin having feelings for each other -- which change the course of their lives. Written by
Director Lawrence Kasdan agreed to direct this film project because he had just been involved on a difficult production shoot on Wyatt Earp (1994), would not have to write the screenplay first, and principal photography would involve a nice working holiday for he and his family in France. When Luc and Kate are taking of from YYZ (Toronto Pearson airport) on their way to Paris, we see outside the windows vast expanses of farm or forest land just at the end of the runway. There are only mass urban spaces, ie: buildings and major roads at the end of any of the runways at YYZ. Also, while the aircraft is taxing to the runway we see structures at the airport that do not exist at YYZ. See more »
I like you. But I don't like the way you say with your face all scrunched up, "you're French, aren't you?" And then I don't like how you say, with your eyes all squinty, "all men are bastards."

I absolutely LOVED and adored this movie! Seriously, its a funny romantic comedy, plus there are so many fun lines that you can quote--"All men are bastards!" My friends and I have made a habit of watching it every year! Its about a woman, Kate, who has her whole life planned out. Then, her fiancée goes on a trip to France, meets another woman, and calls home to break up with Kate. She decides to go win him back and gets on a plane. On the plane, she meets Luc, a french thief. She ends up going after her fiancée and everything seems to go wrong. Anyways, I would recommend it for just a funny, light hearted, fun with the girls type of movie.
