Pfeiffer Turns Down Roles for Kids

2 October 2002 | WENN | See recent WENN news »

Hollywood beauty Michelle Pfeiffer turned down three high profile roles - for the sake of her children. The What Lies Beneath actress was offered Basic Instinct, Silence Of The Lambs and Evita in the nineties - but opted to fulfill the role of mother instead. Although the famous beauty doesn't regret her choices she wishes she could have played Eva Peron in Evita, a part which eventually went to Madonna, as it was a dream role. Pfeiffer, mother to Claudia, 10, and John, 8, says, "I wish I could have done Evita, but not doing it was the right choice at the time. "I finished Dangerous Minds when I was seven months pregnant then I started doing demos for Oliver Stone who was set to direct Evita, but then I had my son and the timing was so wrong." However, there is a lingering performance from her auditions for the role - a tape of her singing "Don't Cry For Me Argentina." She says, "Oh God! Maybe they got rid of. But the strange thing is, to the day, my son doesn't like me to sing, and I think it was because I sang those songs when he was in my stomach. I think I was trying to hit those notes, and he was in there going, 'Arrrgh.'" »

9 months later, Pfeiffer returns to old reps ICM

1 October 2002 | The Hollywood Reporter | See recent The Hollywood Reporter news »

Michelle Pfeiffer has signed with ICM. The move brings the actress back to the agency that had repped her for about 20 years. She left ICM in January to sign with CAA, where she stayed for nine months until the current change (HR 1/18). Pfeiffer is prepping for the release of her latest film, the Warner Bros. Pictures drama White Oleander, which debuted at the Toronto International Film Festival last month. The film, slated to bow in theaters Oct. 11, also stars Robin Wright Penn, Renee Zellweger and Alison Lohman. Pfeiffer has starred in more than 30 films, most recently in I Am Sam for New Line Cinema opposite Sean Penn. Her other credits include What Lies Beneath, Scarface, The Witches of Eastwick, Dangerous Liaisons, The Fabulous Baker Boys, Batman Returns, The Age of Innocence, Dangerous Minds and One Fine Day. She continues to be repped by attorney Barry Hirsch. »
