Light-hearted fun
raymond-1510 March 2003
Try as she may Anna (Stefania Sandrelli) is unable to persuade her husband to have intimate moments with her in bed. In her frustration she takes to eating "sweeties" almost non-stop. In her frenetic quest for sexual gratification Anna consults medium Olga a woman experienced in matters of the heart. The farce becomes riotous when the sex drugs provided by Olga and meant for the husband fall into the hands of the postman, the plumber and the family dog. For such a short film the sets are quite good and the wardrobe excellent. The classical music adds an urgent and exciting touch to the hilarious proceedings. The idea of love potions is not new. Even shakespeare used them in "A Mid-Summer Night's Dream". As in that play a few unavoidable mistakes lead to absolute chaos. And as for overdosing with the potent mixture I can think of only one word: Beware.

It's a serving of farce which perhaps should be viewed while having drinks and a few nibbles, or perhaps, more appropriately a plentiful supply of sweet caramels.

If you enjoyed the gustatory delights of LIKE WATER FOR CHOCOLATE or CHOCOLAT you'll probably have a good time with this short film. Just remember: be careful what you wish for, and especially with magic treats, *always* follow directions!
