The townspeople only honor Tom's tragic death in this production. In the book as well as other film adaptations, the townspeople honor both Tom and Huck's tragic deaths. Tom shows up at his own funerary service when Huck shoves him down into the church from its ceiling at the end of the ceremony.
Unlike the book and other film adaptations of Mark Twain's 1876 novel, this film features two murders rather than only one murder. Injun Joe's victims in this production are Doctor Robinson and Emmett.
