Rights to air on US TV were acquired by FoxKids (who outbid Cartoon Network at the time who expressed an interest) when anime exploded due to the surprise success of Sailor Moon in 1995. However, FoxKids decided against airing any episode due to the nature of the show being geared more to teenagers and adults than kids, and has since let their rights expire.
The episode titles for the each season of Slayers form a pattern. The first season starts with a letter from the English alphabet in sequential order. The second and third seasons are harder to see with the English translations but also form a pattern. The second season plays the Japanese game of shiritori where someone says something and then the next person must begin with with the last syllable from the previous person. The 25th episode of the second season commits the cardinal sin of ending with the sound "N" which cannot start a word in Japanese. This ends shiritori and thus the 26th episode of season two does not continue the link. The third season starts and ends each episode with the sound from each Japanese syllable. In order, together these 52 sounds form the Japanese iroha poem that uses each Japanese syllable once. The 26 episodes of the fourth and fifth season each start with a letter of the English alphabet similar to what the first season did.
