Trivia:
Rights to air on US TV were acquired by FoxKids (who outbid Cartoon Network at the time who expressed an interest) when anime exploded due to the surprise success of Sailor Moon in 1995. However, FoxKids decided against airing any episode due to the nature of the show being a geared to more adult that kids, and has since lets their rights expire. moreQuotes:
Lina Inverse: Darkness beyond twilight, crimson beyond blood that flows, buried in the flow of time is where your power grows. I pledge myself to conquer all the foes who stand in front of this mighty gift bestowed in my unworthy hand. Let the fools who stand before us be destroyed by the power you and I possess. While I would not consider this the greatest anime of all times, it sure is a fine series.
Lina's magic, Gourry's swordsmanship (not his brains), Zelgadis's cool head, and Amelia's hyper-active sense of Justice make this a fun cast of characters to follow on their adventures.
Anyone who likes magical characters, goofy quests, or red-headed heroes will like this series.
