Dolly Rawlins has just been released from prison after serving nine years for the murder of her husband, Harry, following a robbery that she and several other women had carried out on a security van that Harry was planning to raid [see _"Widows" (1983) (mini)_ and _"Widows 2" (1985) (mini)_ ]. Having acquired a reputation in prison as a dominant and respected figure, and being apparently now a reformed character, Dolly teams up with a number of other ex-convicts: Gloria Radford (who had fenced stolen guns), Ester Freeman (who ran a brothel), Connie Stevens and Angela Dunn (prostitutes), Julia Lawson (a drug dealer) and Kathleen O'Reilly (a forger). Dolly and the other women make plans to set up a children's home in a derelict Victorian house. But Dolly is planning one final armed robbery on a mail train. The other women want a share in the proceeds in this robbery... but they are also secretly planning to get their hands on Dolly's money and jewels from the previous robberies. The ... Written by

There is some confusion about the actresses who played the prisoners in Holloway Prison. In the credits for Episode 1, actresses Katrina Buchanan, Lorraine Carroll, Sue Gifford and Amanda Maylin are credited as playing characters Natasha Alexander, Collette Johnson, Delyth Morgan and Claudia Curran. However in the credits for Episode 5, *all* these names (both the actress and the character names) are credited as "Prisoner". See more »
Dolly Rawlins is out, in the third instalment of Lynda la Plante's widows trilogy "She's Out". Dolly Rawlins is released from prison after serving 8 yrs for the murder of her husband. Dolly is determined to make her dreams come true, Awaiting Dolly on her release are a group of women who all spent time inside with her, they know she stashed millions of diamonds in a raid, and they want a cut.
Also waiting for Dolly is a detective-sergeant of the metropolitan police, he holds her personally responsible for the death of his sister in the raid 10 years earlier, and he wants her back inside. Dolly Rawlins has other plans: to realise the dream that has kept her going for years in prison. But against such determined opposition, the fantasy soon turns into a very different, tragic and violent reality....
'She's Out' is the outstanding finale to Lynda La Plante's widows trilogy, and Ann Mitchell is exellent in the role especially written for her.
Definitely a must-see!!!
