As stated in the summary, be careful when you choose to watch this movie.
I have been a HUGE fan of the television series and have fully enjoyed getting wrapped up in each character. However in this t.v. movie it is completely backwards from the regular show.
Have you ever read a book first and then watched the movie, and it was always worse because they missed your favorite parts, or decided to depict different parts of the story line. This is exactly what happened when I saw this movie.
Tess has come back to get to know her sister, she is the reason for Jack's death and sticks around to help Drovers get back on it's feet. It is Tess that is the strong one and trying to make things right, where as the television show has Claire as the strong one. It is also Jack McLeods death that bring Tess back to Drovers to collect her inheritance. Tess is the typical city girl that mucks things up.
This being said, I tried to watch it on it's own merit. It was well acted and a pretty good story line, but I still found myself struggling with which was Tess and which was Claire..even down to their hair color.
Take this for what it is worth...someone who watched the t.v. movie after watching five full seasons.
Good stuff though...enjoy.
