28 December 2011 1:23 PM, PST | National Ledger | See recent National Ledger news »

Neil Diamond, Meryl Streep, et al.: Kennedy Center Honorees Loved Mingling... Neil Diamond's tribute on Tuesday's 34th Annual Kennedy Center Honors was enough to bring tears to the eyes of Diamond fans -- especially if they happen to hail from Boston and have a soft spot for the Kennedy family. At least, according to producer George Stevens Jr., that was the heartfelt response among many attendees inside the Washington, D.C., gala when it was recorded earlier this month.      Diamond's segment of the festivities include a film clip of the singer-songwriter performing on the pitcher's mound at Fenway Park and performances by Rafael Saadiq, Jennifer Nettles, Lionel Ritchie and Smokey Robinson, who sings "Sweet Caroline" along with the entire audience plus 150 Red Sox fans bused down from Boston for the event. "And at the end, Caroline Kennedy comes and sits down next to Lionel Richie," says Stevens of the song's namesake. »

28 December 2011 8:55 AM, PST | TMZ | See recent TMZ news »

Neil Diamond has said "Sweet Caroline" was inspired by a photo of a 4-year-old Caroline Kennedy -- hence the awkward laughter when Caroline recited the line, "touching me, touching you" back at the singer during the Kennedy Center Honors event last night. Diamond insists there was nothing pervy about the song -- in 2007, he explained, "It was a picture of a little girl dressed to the nines in her riding gear, next to her pony ... Laura San Giacomo and Sandra Bernhard talk playing a lesbian couple on "Hot in Cleveland"

7 December 2011 10:43 AM, PST | AfterEllen.com | See recent AfterEllen.com news »

Hot in Cleveland debuted in 2010 as the highest-rated series TVLand has ever aired. The sitcom, starring Betty White, Valerie Bertinelli, Wendy Malick and Jane Leeves, follows four single women described as "past-their-prime" as they attempt to find themselves (and find husbands) in Cleveland, Ohio. At the end of Season 2, the Emmy-award winning show has delved into lesbianish territory, with Wendy's character, Victoria, marrying Jane's Joy in Canada. Of course, they aren't lovers — it was "accidental" and alcohol-induced.

Last week, Hot in Cleveland returned for a third season, and Joy and Victoria are still married, begrudgingly. But when Victoria is invited to discuss her past soap career on talk show The Chatter, she decides to use her marriage as a career-reviver after host Christal (played by Kathy Lee Gifford) says they are looking for a fourth co-host but she has to be a lesbian ("to compete with the Rosies and the »
