Greek Casts Cappie's Parents

26 November 2009 8:02 AM, PST | TVfanatic | See recent TVfanatic news »

When Greek returns to ABC Family on January 25, viewers will finally meet Cappie's parents.

The character's mother will be played by veteran TV star Lea Thompson (pictured), best known for having anchored Caroline in the City for five seasons.

Jim Abele, meanwhile, will play Cappie's non-conformist father, Tobias. He's appeared in episodes of Cold Case and Mad Men.

“Meeting his parents will have a big impact on Casey,” said a Greek insider, adding that the pair will appear during the second half of the show’s upcoming 10-episode cycle.

Exclusive: 'Greek' taps Lea Thompson as Cappie's mom

24 November 2009 4:12 PM, PST | EW - Inside TV | See recent EW.com - Inside TV news »

Now that Casey has finally hooked her wagon to Cappie on Greek, it's time for her to — you guessed it — meet the parents! Caroline in the City herself, Lea Thompson, has been cast as Cappie's free-spirited mother, April, while Jim Abele (24) will play his non-conformist father, Tobias. "Meeting his parents will have a big impact on Casey," says a Greek insider, adding that the modern-day hippies will appear during the second half of the show's upcoming 10-episode cycle (debuting Jan. 25). Do you pledge to support Greek's decision to hire Thompson and Abele as Cappie's parents? Rush to the comments section with your answer! »

TV Reviews: The Vampire Diaries 1.04 & 1.05: “Family Ties” and “You’re Undead to Me”

If I have to watch Nina Dobrev make that I’m-so-confused-because-i-found-out-something-weird-and-can’t-quite-figure-out-what-to-do-with-it-but-it’s-probably-bad look one more time, I might not be able to stop myself from throwing something at my television. Don’t get me wrong, it’s not that I hate The Vampire Diaries. In fact, I rather enjoy ogling Paul Wesley (Stefan Salvatore), and sometimes Ian Somerhalder (Damon Salvatore), on a weekly basis. But as the weeks wear on (and God help me, last week was only the fifth week of the series’ planned 22 episode season), I can’t decide if The Vampire Diaries is a cheesy soap plagued by mediocre acting (queue Nina Dobrev and Katerina Graham) or a teen-focused drama that just happens to star a number of well-known soap opera actors (The Bold And The Beautiful’s Kayla Ewell, One Life To Live and As The World TurnsZach Roerig, and The Young And The RestlessSusan Walters, »

Danielle of 'Housewives' on Alleged Criminal Past

2 June 2009 1:29 PM, PDT | TheInsider.com | See recent The Insider news »

Danielle Staub of Bravo's "Real Housewives of New Jersey" opened up in a new TV interview about reported allegations that she has a criminal past. Of reported allegations that she was put on probation for extortion in the past, she told Kathie Lee Gifford and Hoda Kotb on the "Today" show this morning: "I can only touch on it. I can just say, um, it's out there, and it will be addressed, and I will definitely touch on all the subjects that are crucially in need of touching on at the time, when the time is right and the platform is correct." She did give a little away, saying, "Everybody has somebody in their past or their present that would like to say embellished, nasty things about them, so, yeah." The other housewives, minus Jacqueline Laurita, who sat out the interview since she is due to give birth any day, »

Allen Gardner

Let The Right One In (Magnolia) An awkward 12 year-old boy, ignored by his mother and the target of bullies, finds himself drawn to his new neighbor: a girl his own age who only appears at night, and seems herself to be as lonely an outcast as he. Haunting film from Sweden is best described as The 400 Blows meets Nosferatu, and contains some of the most haunting imagery of any film in recent memory. Truly a unique and memorable work. Outstanding Performance by a Cast in a Motion Picture

15 January 2009 12:59 AM, PST | backstage.com | See recent Backstage news »

The Curious Case of Benjamin Button -- Obviously, the stars of David Fincher's cinematic telling of the F. Scott Fitzgerald short story "The Curious Case of Benjamin Button" are Brad Pitt as the title character and Cate Blanchett as his soul mate, Daisy. But this spellbinding fairy tale -- beautifully adapted by Oscar winner Eric Roth (Forrest Gump) -- requires much more than just A-list power to paint its haunting picture. In a New Orleans hospital, a dying woman asks her grown daughter, Caroline (Julia Ormond), to read from a journal. The woman is Daisy, and the diary is the extraordinary story of a man she knew named Benjamin Button, who was born old and grew younger. They shared a lifetime bond, though they only truly connected in the middle for a while. Caroline and Daisy (an astonishing deathbed performance by Blanchett) lead us into Ben's narrative of a life lived backward, »
