Editors' Emmy predictions slugfest: Who'll win Best Drama Supporting Actress?

12 August 2014 5:36 AM, PDT | Gold Derby | See recent Gold Derby news »

In our new prediction slugfest video, Gold Derby Editors are wary of declaring Anna Gunn ("Breaking Bad") a lock to win Best Drama Supporting Actress because Emmy voters always like to throw us a few surprises. In particular, there are two other ladies with stand-out episode submissions that make this a real race: Joanne Froggatt ("Downton Abbey") and Christine Baranski ("The Good Wife"). Joining me in our latest video (watch below) are Rob Licuria, Daniel Montgomery, Matt Noble and Charles Bright as we analyze the episodes submitted to Emmy judges as examples of their best work from the past TV season. Gunn went with "Ozymandias," Froggatt chose "Episode 4.2" and Baranski submitted "The Last Call." Other nominees: Maggie Smith for "Downton Abbey" ("The London Season"), Christina Hendricks for "Mad Men" ("The Strategy") and Lena Headey for "Game of Thrones" ("T..." »

2014 Sundance Film Festival Awards Announced

It was another great year at the Sundance Film Festival! There were so many fantastic movies shown,  and I still have a couple more to go. I'm really happy to say that Miles Teller and J.K. Simmon's film Whiplash took home the top two prizes, winning the Grand Jury Prize and the Audience Award. This was my number one favorite film from the festival, and it seems like everyone else at the festival loved it too, so it doesn't surprise me that it won.

Here's the full list of winners:

Behold the First Teaser and Pics for Del Toro and Cuse’s The Strain

22 January 2014 9:45 AM, PST | ScifiMafia | See recent ScifiMafia news »

This may be the most highly anticipated new series of the year, not just of the summer. A TV series from writer/director/producer Guillermo del Toro (Pacific Rim, Pan’s Labyrinth)! Carlton Cuse (LostBates Motel) as the showrunner! Pure Geek Gold. I can barely wait to see what they have in store for us, when The Strain premieres this summer on FX.

Today is a good day for us, as it marks the official beginning of the video marketing of the series to We, the People, with the release of the first teaser. Like all good teasers, it likely doesn’t show any actual footage from the show. But it is longer than a lot of other series teasers; none of that 10-second stuff for The Strain, but a full 30-second TV spot! And yes, it does make me want to see the show Even More:
