THE SILENCE OF THE HAMS
Wow... this is a blast from the past. I remember buying this movie on VHS when it first came out. It is a spoof of a lot of movies that were recent back when it was released. Some of the movies it parodies is The Slience of the Lambs, Psycho and Basic Instinct.
This is a good film, but its not the best parody I have ever seen. There are some really funny moments in it though. It is as stupid in places as expected from a film like this. But that is a good thing.
It has got a lot of famous faces in it too. Dom DeLuise plays the Hanibal Lector rip off, Dr. Animal Cannibal Pizza. Billy Zane plays the FBI agent Jo Dee Fostar. It also has John Astin, Rip Taylor, Bubba Smith, Shelley Winters, John Carpenter, John Landis and Mel Brooks appearing.
Now I find there are too many spoofs out there now. It was all funny until Scary Movie 3 onwards. I am not a fan of Disaster Movie, Superhero Movie, Epic Movie, Vampires Suck etc... the only decent recent one was Meet the Spartans. I thought that was funny.
But back in the 80s and 90s, they were funny...
Like I said, this is not the best one... but still good and worth a watch.
I will give this film 6 out of 10.
The legendary Dom DeLuise is great all the time.
