Storyline

A man so desperate for a promotion prostitutes his unwilling wife to his boss. Then despite this sacrifice, another man is brought in to take the position and the first man is faced with a demotion and potentially being completely ousted from the company. Humiliated, he chooses to commit suicide. His wife then vows revenge on everyone involved and manipulates her way into Stevens' home as a tutor to his teen son. Of course, what she teaches is not on a school curriculum. She further starts poisoning his wife, while seducing her and her husband. Everyone, of course, is set against each other. But none of the group think of blaming Tweed. Written by John Sacksteder <jsackste@bellsouth.net>

Watchable "Erotique" movie....
25 October 1998 | by (London, England) – See all my reviews

"A woman scorned" is a semi rip-off of "The Hand that Rocks the cradle," yes, but the gorgeous Shannon Tweed and a geunine professionalism (It's about as well made as the afore-mentioned movie) keep it all moving along nicely until the pretty unentertaining conclusion. Just because this is a 'Straight to video erotica' movie doesn't mean it's terrible - This is a film that fits more into the "Body of Evidence" category more than it does, say, the "Animal Instincts" vein, simply because it has a properly developed plot and sex scenes, which, generally, are required to develop the plot, and aren't simply there because they're needed every ten minutes to fit in with the expected conventions of this new sub-genre.

For reasons much to dull to mention, Miss. Tweed plays the likeable woman, Patricia, who blames successful businessman Andrew Stevens for her husband's suicide. Taking on the role of Steven's teenage son's tutor (He isn't very good at maths), Patricia changes her identity, and slowly works her way into the family's life, seducing both the son and father, with the eventual intention of breaking the family apart.

Nice idea, isn't it? Ok, Ok, this isn't a particularly brilliant movie but it all works decently enough, even if it is only a bit of cheapo entertainment. Ex playboy centrefold Tweed CAN actually act, and brings a surprisingly seductive and mystical presence to her character. The scenes between herself and Andrew's son are electric, too, although the TV version will probably tone it down to no more than a bit of kissing.

There are problems, of course. The first is that we, as the audience, never really get to dislike Tweed very much. In fact, we almost want her to break Stevens' family apart; it's much too squeaky clean and annoying, and we're certain that Stevens would have a better life with Tweed, anyway. The script isn't up to much either, and the directing is a bit clumsy. On top of all that, there are often longish spaces where not that much seems to happen, particularly at a pretty boring start.

Even so, there's something likeable about it all, and, compared to the sequel (Which lacks the presence of the divine Shannon Tweed), this is a gem!
