I love horror movies if they are done right - and Night of the Demons is a borderline case! I saw the first one back in 1987 or 88 in and I found it entertaining and some what packed with demon horror. The thing with Demons 2 is that I saw it in 2003 and since the flick was filmed in 1993 I kind of felt it was very contemporary to that time period. If I had seen it in 1994 when it came out I would probably have liked more. The director uses mostly static shots and really uses moving camera shots to establish scenes witch gives the movie a kind of slow pace. The editing of some scenes are amateurish done do not always give a fluent continuity to the big picture. The acting is surprisingly good and some of the leads have moved on to bigger projects. The director have chosen a some what pretty cast to give the movie a lift but of course not in the same league of Scream- but without the character development. Nudity real early in a film is not always a good sign and this movie features breast in the intro-but for some reason I did not mind. A 1990`s horror film is a 1990`s horror film. The FX is cheap but the demon masks and contact lenses are pretty good- and does the trick!
This is not a move that one buy - but instead rent for some quick `low brow' fun
Happy Halloween kids 3 of 5 on the horror scale!
