Joanna Berry, Film Critic from the Radio Times described Harvey Keitel starring in this movie as follows: "Quite what the hard-as-nails star of Reservoir Dogs (1992) and Bad Lieutenant (1992) is doing in this comedy adventure is anyone's guess, but his tongue-in-cheek performance will delight adults, almost as much as the monkey business will enchant young children." After Keitel had starred in those violent, expletive-heavy films, he wanted to do this movie for his young daughter.
