Philip runs a crisis hotline with Catherine and Mrs Munchnik. That's the easy part, now it gets tricky... Stanley loves evicting people and he evicts Philip. Philip loves helping people and he is loved by Catherine. Catherine is loved by Louie who loves writing songs. Chris loves dancing to songs and loves to wear large dresses. Gracie also loves to wear large dresses because she's pregnant. She loves the baby's father, Felix, who loves to paint. That just leaves Mrs. Munchnik who hasn't been loved by anybody in a very long time. Written by

When Dr. Kinsky (Rob Reiner) is complaining about Vanessa to Philip (Steve Martin), he mentions that she has twelve pillows, in all sorts of shapes, and at night, before they go to bed, they have to take all twelve pillows, and then in the morning they have to replace all the pillows, for no real purpose. This is the exact same routine that Ben Stiller and Jennifer Anniston go through in "Along Came Polly." ten years after this movie was released. See more »

I am not your type. I am short and my hair is short. I am attractive; I suppose I do fit that part of the description

One of those "slice of life" stories, "Mixed Nuts" portrays several hours on Christmas Eve in a crisis hot-line center where Phil (Steve Martin) works. Over the day, a most unusual series of events happens, and no one's life will ever be the same again. Some of the scenes are real shockers (you'll know them when you see them).
Steve Martin has a great time with the role, as does Rita Wilson as Catherine O'Shaughnessy, Phil's co-worker. You'll really like the elevator scene. Great support from Madeline Kahn, Robert Klein, Juliette Lewis, Anthony LaPaglia, Rob Reiner, Adam Sandler, and Liev Schreiber make this movie truly one Christmas treat. Jon Stewart and Parker Posey also appear.
