Storyline

The story begins with Spanky, who is the president of the "He-Man Woman Haters Club" with many school-aged boys from around the neighborhood as members. His best friend, Alfalfa, has been chosen as the driver for the club's prize-winning go-kart, called "The Blur", in the annual Soap Box Derby style race. However, when the announcement is made, Alfalfa is nowhere to be found. The boys catch Alfalfa in the company of Darla -- "a girl!" Alfalfa isn't like his friends because he's in love with Darla, and unfortunately threatens the very existence of their "boys only" club. The club's members try their hardest to break the two apart, eventually causing their beloved clubhouse to burn down. Darla is mistakenly led to believe Alfalfa feels ashamed of her, so she turns her attentions to Waldo, the new rich kid whose father is an oil tycoon. Further trouble ensures when their prized go-cart "The Blur" is stolen by local neighborhood bullies Butch and Woim. How can they win the big race and ... Mr. Welling: [Stymie and Spanky go into a bank trying to get a loan disguised as two Amish men] What is your account...
[looks up and pauses]
Mr. Welling: number?
George "Spanky" McFarland: Uh, seven.
Mr. Welling: [uncertain] Seven?... seven?
Billy "Froggy" Laughlin: [is under Spanky to hold him up] Try eight.
George "Spanky" McFarland: Eight?
Mr. Welling: [still uncertain, the turns stern] Heard enough.
Mr. Welling: [pulls their fake beards and lets them go hitting Stymie and Spanky in their faces]
Mr. Welling: If you were *my* kids, I'd punish you.

Rascally hilarious
25 August 2000 | by (Singapore) – See all my reviews

I enjoy movies where kids are the main stars, and except for a few, have always highly rated them. This ranks as one of the better ones I've seen. Though I never had the chance to watch the series, I can imagine how hilarious it must have been judging from the movie. The antics of the group of young boys and girls in their eternal 'war' against one another is uproarious and a delight to watch. Watch how one of the boys try to stay within the girl-hating club while trying to woo a girl at the same time - it'll remind some of us of our childhood just before we enter adolescence. Fact is, I think the parents would probably enjoy this just as much for the same reason - how cute we were before we became 'teen horrors'!!
