Kirsten Dunst’s Acting Coach Made Her Re-Do Her ‘Interview With a Vampire’ Audition

17 May 2016 1:56 PM, PDT | Variety - Film News | See recent Variety - Film News news »

Kirsten Dunst may not have been the lovable vampire Claudia in “Interview With a Vampire” if it were not for her acting coach.

Dunst sat down with Rami Malek for Variety‘s and PBS’ fourth “Actors on Actors” series and revealed that her coach made her re-do her audition after a not-so-perfect performance.

“I was with my coach,” she recalled. “He was outside of the room. He listened on the door to hear, like, what I was doing. And he knows I didn’t nail it. And I walked out, and he was like, ‘No, you go back in there.’ He’s like, ‘Apologize to the casting director.’ He’s like, ‘She didn’t do what she can do.'”

Dunst lamented auditions overall and, with 72 credits to her name, she said it is still “the most stressful thing to me on the planet Earth.”

Jared Leto Eyed for ‘The Vampire Lestat’

9 May 2016 8:00 AM, PDT | The Hollywood News | See recent The Hollywood News news »

The Vampire Lestat director Josh Boone eyes Suicide Squad’s Jared Leto for the lead role.

Josh Boone is no stranger to adapting books to the big screen. He successfully brought The Fault in our Stars to cinema masses and spent several months trying (and sadly failing) at bringing a big screen version of Stephen King‘s The Stand  to life. This experience doesn’t seem to have deterred him as it was last week announced that he has begun work on bringing some of Anne Rice‘s finest stories to life.

Whilst initial reports suggested Boone would be remaking 90’s gothic classic Interview with the Vampire it has now surfaced that he will focus in on a different novel, The Vampire Lestat, which does feature parts of Interview with the Vampire. The vampire features in several of Rice’s novels and was made famous on the screen in Interview with the Vampire »

Director Josh Boone tells social media the script for Interview With The Vampire is done and Jared Leto is the only one.

Rumours are circulating that there is a new Lestat in town. Director Josh Boone took to Instagram to post an image of the finished Interview With The Vampire reboot screenplay and that he has an idea for one of the two main vampire roles.

“Lestat - there can be only one. #JaredLeto”, Boone posted.

When the first Interview with the Vampire movie cast Tom Cruise as the rock star vampire, Anne Rice fans, and Anne Rice herself, were not best pleased. Rice envisioned the role as perfect for Rutger Hauer, Rice fans thought it would be risky business to turn the Vampire Chronicles into a Top Gun movie.

Boone’s posting followed a tweet from Anne Rice’s son Christopher Rice that said big announcements were on the way. »

Jared Leto As The Vampire Lestat? Maybe

6 May 2016 2:07 PM, PDT | Dark Horizons | See recent Dark Horizons news »

Earlier this week came the news that filmmaker Josh Boone's remake of "Interview with the Vampire" is moving forward with he and co-writer and Jill Killington having finished the script.

Boone revealed the news himself on Twitter, and has since followed that up with another photo - one in which he seems to suggest actor Jared Leto might be the one taking on the role of the Vampire Lestat.

Josh Boone (@JoshBooneMovies) May 4, 2016

Are we all simply being trolled by Boone? Certainly no casting announcements have been made and so no further confirmations or denials have been forthcoming.

Whatever the case, author Anne Rice's son Christopher Rice also tweeted this week about the announcement, saying: "We're so excited about this and @JoshBooneMovies. Lots of great things to come. Stay tuned!." »

Jared Leto may be Josh Boone's choice for Lestat in Interview reboot

6 May 2016 2:03 PM, PDT | JoBlo.com | See recent JoBlo news »

Things really seem to be picking up steam on Universal's planned reboot of Anne Rice's Interview With The Vampire. Back in 2014, Josh Boone came aboard the project with designs on writing and directing a new version of the story that might focus more on the second and third books of Rice's The Vampire Chronicles than a strict retelling of Interview.... Is Jared Leto the right choice to play the Vampire Lestat?

6 May 2016 12:56 PM, PDT | Hitfix | See recent Hitfix news »

Though no official confirmation has come down, Jared Leto has seemingly been cast as the new Lestat in Fault in Our Stars writer-director Josh Boone's Interview with the Vampire re-adaptation (at least according to an Instagram post by Boone earlier this week), leading to both outrage and excitement from Leto detractors and fans, respectively.  On this week's episode of HitFix's horror chat series Nightmare Fuel, Drew McWeeny (who does not appear onscreen due to some unfortunate technical difficulties) and I discuss Leto's seeming involvement in the film, speculate on what he would bring to the role and talk about why the Oscar-winning actor is such a divisive figure in general. (Note: The Leto/Lestat discussion begins at 7:15 in.) Also on tap: a discussion of that Craft sequel/remake that HitFix made news with earlier this week as well as Universal's big-budget Monster reboots, which both Drew and I harbor serious reservations about. »

Is Jared Leto Lestat in the upcoming Interview with the Vampire remake? While we have no directo confirmation that is the case, the movie's screenwriter Josh Boone has tweeted out his own personal pick for the iconic vampire Lestat de Lioncourt in this impending remake. Though, he doesn't give us much to go on. He simply says the following about his possible casting pick.

"Lestat - there can be only one. #JaredLeto."

Yesterday, we reported that the long-gestating remake of Interview with the Vampire is still moving forward, with writer-director Josh Boone showing off the cover page to his recently-completed script, which he co-wrote with Jill Killington. The image revealed that the project is based on two of Anne Rice's The Vampire Chronicles books, Interview with the Vampire and The Vampire Lestat, although nothing more is known about the adaptation, or how closely it will stick to these two novels. »

Josh Boone Updates On His Interview With The Vampire Reboot

5 May 2016 3:06 AM, PDT | We Got This Covered | See recent We Got This Covered news »

Before there was Stephanie Meyer’s Twilight, there was Anne Rice and her book series The Vampire Chronicles. Wildly popular, the concept was adapted for the screen by the author and released in cinemas as Interview With The Vampire: The Vampire Chronicles in 1994, directed by Neil Jordan, and starring Tom Cruise, Brad Pitt and Kirsten Dunst. A second adaptation – Queen Of The Damned was released in 2002, but proved to be less of a hit. The whole thing is now resurfacing, however, as filmmaker Josh Boone (The Fault In Our Stars) is confirmed as heading up an Interview With The Vampire reboot.

Boone is clearly in high demand, with several projects in the works – including X-Men: The New Mutants and The Stand. The Interview With The Vampire reboot has been on the cards for some time now, with Brian Grazer producing for Imagine Entertainment, but information had been scarce until Josh Boone »

Interview with the Vampire Remake Script Is Finished

Way back in the summer of 2014, Universal Pictures acquired the rights to author Anne Rice's entire The Vampire Chronicles novel series, including Interview With the Vampire, Queen of the Damned and The Vampire Lestat. A few weeks later, the studio brought on The Fault in our Stars filmmaker Josh Boone to write and direct an adaptation entitled The Vampire Chronicles, which would be based on Queen of the Damned and The Vampire Lestat. It seems the focus of this project has changed a bit, with Josh Boone recently revealing the title page of his script for a remake of Interview with the Vampire.

The filmmaker posted this photo of the script title page to his Instagram account last week, which revealed the title is in fact Interview With the Vampire, which will be based on the book of the same name, and The Vampire Lestat. The filmmaker co-wrote the script with Jill Killington, »

Boone Remaking "Interview with the Vampire"

4 May 2016 8:31 AM, PDT | Dark Horizons | See recent Dark Horizons news »

Almost two years ago, Universal Pictures and Imagine Entertainment acquired the rights to Anne Rice's "Vampire Chronicles" book series.

At the time, "The Fault in Our Stars" director Josh Boone was said to be attached to pen and helm the film which would combine the second and third books - "The Vampire Lestat" and "The Queen of the Damned" - something the previous "Queen of the Damned" film in 2002 did.

Today, Boone has revealed via social media it's not the case. Rather, he and Jill Killington ("All We Had") have penned a screenplay for a new adaptation of the original story in the series - "Interview With the Vampire" which was previously made into a film in 1994 starring Tom Cruise and Brad Pitt.

Brian Grazer, Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci will produce. Boone has both a "New Mutants" film and several Stephen King adaptations in the works.
