This movie is no Oscar nominee...
However... it does represent Saskatchewan and its film industry.
Guitarman is a recent interpretation of the Pide-Piper fairytale with a small farming twist, while this does seem like a child story; the movie still holds some great value.
The move itself has great composition and the cinematography is sensational, it truly captivates a Saskatchewan sunsets like no other... although this movie has a little production value, its plot fails to succeed as well as its acting.
The acting at times appears to be a bit cliché, and incredible slow even when Shawn Ashmore (X-men, as iceman) does increase the production value, the movie still lacks content, feeling, as well as character development.
The plot is where the movie takes a turn for the worst, an over-used, over stimulated story of the Pide-Piper is used. It's cute at times and fairly comprehensive, but at the same time it lacks content and vitality; it fails to entertain the viewer, and its main goal is to get across its moral or lesson.
Overall a great step in the small town Canadian film industry..
5/10 (in comparison to the rest, as for Saskatchewan films, 8/10!) see it if you are from Saskatchewan, or if you want to learn more about it.
