Wenceslas, the young king of Bohemia, lives trapped between the wisdom of his Christian grandmother and his ever constant battle with his tyranical step-mother. She wants her own son to be king and constantly tries to stay in charge of Weceslas's life (including picking out a bride for him). But it is only when he sees the suffering of his people that Wenceslas learns how vital it is that his step-brother never rules. Written by
Did You Know?
I learned from the people what happened. One of her majesty's barons came at night and struck Father Joseph with his sword. A giant of a man, they told me. Then his men destroyed the chapel. The people fled into the forest.
This giant, did he speak?
Forgive me, sire.
You can tell me.
He spoke only once and briefly. As he raised his sword he shouted, 'This is done in the name of Wenceslas.'
