Storyline

Doc McCoy is put in prison because his partners chickened out and flew off without him after exchanging a prisoner with a lot of money. Doc knows Jack Benyon, a rich "business"-man, is up to something big, so he tells his wife (Carol McCoy) to tell him that he's for sale if Benyon can get him out of prison. Benyon pulls some strings and Doc McCoy is released again. Unfortunately he has to cooperate with the same person that got him to prison. Written by Lars J. Aas <larsa@colargol.edb.tih.no>

Quotes

[At Benyon's compound]
Jack Benyon: Thought I'd never see you again. The news said one dead.
Doc McCoy: [drops the bag] Three dead. Hansen got jumpy and shot a guard, and Rudy got ambitious and killed Hansen, then he lost his head and tried to kill me.
Jack Benyon: How's your wife?
Doc McCoy: Let's cut up this money. I wanna get outta here.
Jack Benyon: I don't like complications.
Doc McCoy: Well, you pull these kinds of jobs, you take those chances.
Jack Benyon: You know, McCoy? You and I are two of a kind.
Doc McCoy: No, I don't think so. I like to do my own dirty work. I never much like ...

A couple robbed successfully a bank and escaped from being caught by the justice.
22 October 2001 | by (Italy) – See all my reviews

Remakes are normally worse than the first versions, but this one is the exception. I saw the first version of "Getaway" twice starred by Steve McQueen and Ali McGraw, which was OK to me, but this new one with Alec Baldwin and Kim Basinger is more credible in its plot and also in acting. Basinger made more credible the reason to betray his husband, Baldwin made more credible the reason why he stayed with his wife. In general both acted well and perhaps much better than McQueen and McGraw.
