Psychological, with laughter and many tears.
dennis-3525 February 2002
This is a powerful psychological drama (at times). Here is a woman who has been trapped in a loveless marriage. Her husband loved his parakeet much more than her. She lived on almost no money, begging for grocery money, but getting a lecture. My heart bleeds for her, because I knew someone who lived like this.

Hubby dies. But his presence is still felt, over and over, by his widow. He left all of his money to someone else, only dribbling a paltry sum to her. She scrapes up enough money to take a bus trip to see the sights.

Suddenly, people seem to like her (a very difficult thing to handle). She makes friends, and begins to feel like a person, instead of just a useless appendage. Things are bumpy, but, little by little, she feels her strength.

I recommend this movie to anyone who thinks that life cannot ever change. Letting go of a painful past can allow a wonderful present ... the skies the limit.

An Excellant Ann-Margret Experience
cheekichick200029 March 2002
This movies was a very touching and definitely made for tv movie. Ann-Margret was excellent as 'Lena' She did an wonderful job of playing her and really touched me in many ways. There was a great supporting cast.I especially loved Cecile (Brenda Vaccaro)and Nola(Alexandra Powers). Although it was a little bit predictable,it was a lovely story and AM shone in this performance. Her singing was great too and she showed that she still has what it take to be a serious, dramatical actor. She looked sensational!!! George Segal was good to and they made a good onscreen couple. Definitely a movie for AM fans!!!!

Ann-Margret give another Emmy worthy performance...story lacking
vivaAM2 June 1999
Ann-Margret is once again the only thing that keeps this predictable story about a Swedish country singer, interesting. She gives a great performance and hence makes the movie enjoyable despite it's lacking storyline. Her singing in the movie is good, but the thought of a Swedish country singer (whose accent is thick as molasses) is a little far fetched. A good effort worthy of our attention.
