Sausage Party director developing The Jetsons animated movie

THR is reporting that Warner Bros. has tapped Conrad Vernon (Shrek 2, Monsters vs. Aliens, Sausage Party) to develop its animated big screen take on the classic Hanna-Barbera cartoon The Jetsons.

Spurred on by the success of The Flintstones, The Jetsons followed the misadventures of the space age family led by father George, along with wife Jane, children Judy and Elroy, household robot Rosie and family dog Astro. It ran on ABC between 1962 and 1963, with an animated feature Jetsons: The Movie released in 1990.

Several studios have tried to launch a live-action take on The Jetsons, with the rights passing between Paramount, Universal and current holders Warner Bros., with directors such as Adam Shankman and Robert Rodriguez attached at various points.

This latest animated adaptation was first announced back in January of 2015, when Warner Bros. hired Matt Lieberman (Dr. Dolittle: Tail to the Chief) to pen a screenplay. »

The myth of screenwriting credits

Why the writers credited on a movie are rarely the only ones who put the screenplay together....

The Wizard Of Oz, since its initial release in 1939, has richly deserved its long-cemented status as an all-time classic. A regular resident in the IMDb top 250 films of all time, and a part of many people’s DVD collection, it’s a film that I’d wager more and more people fall in love with each year. Long may that continue.

Lots of brilliant people were involved in bringing The Wizard Of Oz to the big screen. Some terrific writers, too, who came up with a quotable and cherished script. The film’s screenplay is credited to Noel Langley, »

Beauty and the Beast Doll Gets Slammed for Looking Like Justin Bieber

14 January 2017 9:14 AM, PST | MovieWeb | See recent MovieWeb news »

Disney has debuted its new Beauty and the Beast doll from the upcoming live-action adaptation of the animated classic. And fans are calling it tragic. We might have to agree. Personally, I don't think I've seen a doll this atrocious since John Goodman and Rick Moranis got the toy treatment for 1994's live-action The Flintstones. But at least those action figures looked like their human counterparts. This doll is being slammed because it doesn't look like Emma Watson, who stars as iconic fairy tale character Belle, but instead resembled, gasp, Justin Bieber. Just take a look at some of the Tweets below to see what has some fans all riled up.

Disney's new take on Beauty and the Beast is inarguably one of the most anticipated movies of 2017. And the Mouse House has started to heavily promote the fairy tale, which is roughly two months away, arriving in March just »
