After profiling "thirtysomething" creators Edward Zwick and Marshall Herskovitz, "X-Files" creator Chris Carter and others, the AOL original series "Inspired" has turned its attention to the Farrelly Brothers. As co-directors of such classics as "Dumb and Dumber" and "There's Something About Mary," Peter and Bobby Farrelly rank among the most prolific and enduring comedy filmmakers around. More recently, they've been behind remakes of "The Heartbreak Kid" and "The Three Stooges," as well as the sequel "Dumb and Dumber To." In the upcoming episode of "Inspired," the writing-directing team explains how after nine years of writing without ever getting anything produced, they were able to write and direct one of the most successful and beloved comedies in history, "Dumb and Dumber," and helped make Jim Carrey one of the biggest stars in film. Check out two exclusive clips of the »

As brands scramble to make sense of Snapchat and its value as the fastest growing mobile app, Hollywood may already be ahead of the curve. Universal was one of the first to see potential in the platform’s growing audience. Snapchat’s first two ads were trailers for the movie studio’s “Ouija” followed by “Dumb and Dumber To.” Since then, movies such as “The Duff” and “Pitch Perfect 2,” plus TV shows including “Girls” and “Pretty Little Liars” have made strong plays on the mobile messaging app. But the 2014-2015 awards season may have shown the social platform’s »

The duo sang their hearts out – and tickled many funny bones – on such beloved numbers as Sonny & Cher’s “I Got You Babe” (complete with hair-flips), Dolly Parton and Kenny Rogers’ “Islands in the Stream” and Linda Ronstadt and Aaron Neville’s “Don’t Know Much.” Dumb and Dumber fans, meanwhile, »

Things aren't always as they seem… Someone posing as Jim Carrey attended the Czech Lions Ceremony, which is equal to the Academy Awards in the Czech Republic, and completely fooled everyone! Jan Sverak, a film director who actually oversaw the entire event, explained that he was tricked by the hoax and apologized to viewers for the mix-up. "We have become very likely the target of a very elaborate hoax. I'm sorry," he told a crowd of reporters shortly after the ceremony aired. Even the show's host, Lucie Vyborna, thought that the man pretending to be the Dumb and Dumber star was real and insisted that Carey was in attendance at the Czech show. "Of course the »
What's leaving Netflix in March? Well, the streaming service is expiring a slew of movies and TV shows, with a big chunk of the departing titles belonging to the Cartoon Network -- you'll see those say bye-bye at the end of the month. From what we can tell, that's about it in terms of TV exiting Watch Instantly.
As for movies, the clock is ticking for favorites "Dumb and Dumber," "Fright Night," Desperado," "Seven," "Pretty in Pink," "Romy and Michele's High School Reunion," and "The Muppet Movie," which will all be pulled in the monthly purge.
Here's the complete list of titles that will vanish from your streaming list (pending any sort of meddling time-travelers). And, just so you're not left empty-handed, here's a list of what's new on Netflix in March 2015.

When Jared Leto hit the red carpet at this year’s Oscars, people couldn’t help but notice that his long, luxurious locks were on fleek. Alas: "This is the last night you'll see me with long hair," he told Et. "This is my going away party for my hair."
Also, that he bared more than a passing resemblance to Jesus Christ.

Major wardrobe drama! Did Jared Leto just steal his look from Harry Dunne? The Dallas Buyers Club actor showed up to the 2015 Oscars sporting a tuxedo that looks eerily similar to that of Jeff Daniels from the classic film Dumb and Dumber. From the silk lapel down to the powder-blue shade, it's a full on Who Wore It Better moment. This is the actor's first Oscars appearance since his big win last year for his portrayal of Rayon in Dallas Buyers Club, but it seems like his suit may have stolen his thunder a bit. Of course, Leto is no stranger to being in the fashion spotlight. He's worn many a sharp suit in his day (including last year's white-tux-and-bowtie number), and his signature »

Coming off one of the busiest weekends in years, the box office is going to quiet down significantly this coming weekend.Hot Tub Time Machine 2, McFarland, USA and The Duff are all opening in at least 2,500 theaters, though it would be surprising if any of these took in over $15 million this weekend. Therefore, the top three spots should once again belong to Fifty Shades of Grey, Kingsman: The Secret Service and The SpongeBob Movie: Sponge Out of Water.Coming off a massive $85.2 million debut, Fifty Shades of Grey seems poised to take a dive this weekend. Word-of-mouth is mixed, die-hard book fans likely already made it out last weekend, and romantic movies tend to fall hard coming off Valentine's Day. About Last Night (2014), Endless Love and Valentine's Day all fell at least 70 percent on this same weekend, while the Twilight sequels and The Fault in our Stars had similar second weekend drops. »

While I understand a filmmaker’s want to go above and beyond when creating a sequel, Hot Tub Time Machine 2 suffers from a serious case of “youngest child” syndrome. Steve Pink’s original time-traveling period-piece is a rather funny endeavor, only because it’s executed with a sensible craziness that boasts decent helpings of immature yucks to balance out some seriously rad 80s humor.
The sequel, trying to live up to its big brother’s legacy, essentially runs around with its dick in its hands for 90 minutes, craving the same adoring attention without exemplifying any of the previously successful methods. It’s basically Dumb And Dumber To all over again – take everything you thought worked from the original, and repurpose it a billion times over before absolutely killing whatever nostalgic enjoyment might have been attainable. Welcome back, gang!

Either I have entirely too much time on my hands (I don’t), I’m a self-admitted masochist (getting warmer), or Dumb And Dumber To is so horrendously brain-numbing that I couldn’t let a Blu-Ray review opportunity pass me by. My colleague Robert Kojder already wrote a forgiving theatrical review of the appalling comedic atrocity that is Dumb And Dumber To, but I don’t agree that the Farrelly brothers do their most famous property right by way of a repetitive, self-referential sequel. Opinions make the world go ’round, but this is one time I had to make my side heard.
While I can’t exactly call Dumb And Dumber To the Mortdecai of 2014 (because I genuinely laughed, albeit three whole times), this soulless husk of a comedic effort reeks of cash-grab incentives around every previously-explored turn. There are moments where we pity Jim Carrey and *Emmy Winner* Jeff Daniels, »

While Dumb and Dumber remains as one of the best cult comedies of the '90s, it's hard to imagine anyone seeing its recently released sequel, Dumb and Dumber To, in similar high regard. The second movie was a rather unfunny, unfortunate mess, and now its received the Honest Trailer treatment it so greatly deserves: We've seen Honest Trailers in the past that are a bit more nitpicky than most, and ultimately admit that the movie in question is actually quite good... but this isn't one of those times. Though Dumb and Dumber To was ultimately considered a box office success - pulling in a global total of $169 million on a modest $40 million budget - I imagine one would be hard pressed to find a person that actually thinks its a worthy predecessor to the fantastically stupid original. As the spot points out right from the start, Dumb and Dumber »
Have you heard? Google is a great search engine. You should try it. Lord knows Eric Schmidt wishes he had in this deleted scene from Dumb and Dumber To. Before there was Dumb and Dumber To, there was Dumb and Dumber. The 1994 release of Dumb and Dumber is unique in movie history: Having earned almost $250 million worldwide, it is a bona fide box-office hit; yet, it is still often referred to as a “cult classic.” As the comedy became a staple of home entertainment collections and a weekly presence on cable television, it retained fans from its original theatrical release while simultaneously garnering another generation of fans who couldn’t get enough of the quotable lines and best friendship they found within the story of two simpletons on a … Continue reading →

Jim Carrey made NBC News personalities Matt Lauer and Savannah Guthrie squirm on Sunday when he came to the “defense” of Brian Williams during the network’s “Saturday Night Live” 40th anniversary pre-show. “You mind if I ask you guys a question? Where are you hiding Brian Williams?” the “Dumb and Dumber” star asked during a red carpet interview with the “Today Show” co-hosts. Bobby and Peter Farrelly have been joined at the hip since 1994 . cinematically speaking, of course. Their first film together was with Jim Carrey and Jeff Daniels in Dumb and Dumber, and they.ve since gone on to direct eleven feature films together. But is it finally time for them to cut the chord and set out to make waves on their own? We wonder, because Bobby has signed on to direct his first movie without his big brother. As reported by The Wrap, he will helm a comedy called One Night Stan, which was something that both brothers were originally attached to. Though, Peter is at least working on it as an executive producer. The story is also very Farrelly Brothers-esque: Stan, known for his one-night stands, finally considers settling down when he falls in love with a woman named Amy, but she too "has her own ideas about relationships. »
