London, Jan 4: Charlize Theron felt that she had hit the big time when she landed her first role in a horror movie, but she was shocked, at the preview, to find that her voice had been dubbed.

The Oscar winner started her Hollywood career with a supporting role in 'Children of the Corn III: Urban Harvest, playing a follower of an evil child killer in the adaption of Stephen King's short story.

Theron recalls being hugely excited with her first acting job, and boasting to her mum that she had made it - but she was left stunned when she saw the movie and realised the producers had used another actress' scream in the place of hers.

"I felt like I'd made it! I remember very vividly they asked us to bring our own clothes. »

Theron's Film Debut Pride Ruined By Dubbing

Charlize Theron felt she had hit the big time when she landed her first film role in Children Of The Corn III: Urban Harvest, until she viewed the movie and realised her voice had been dubbed.

The Oscar winner kickstarted her Hollywood career with a supporting role in the horror movie, playing a follower of an evil child killer in the adaption of Stephen King's short story.

Theron recalls being hugely excited with her first acting job, and boasting to her mum that she had made it - but she was left shocked when she saw a preview and realised the producers had used another actress' scream in the place of hers.

She tells Total Film magazine, "I felt like I'd made it! I remember very vividly they asked us to bring our own clothes and they had to be black. I was living hand to mouth at the time but I had invested in these nice black and white Pumas (sneakers). And so, having never been in a film, I wore my new shoes. An hour into shooting I was lying in a cornfield and fake blood was being dripped all over my new shoes.

"But I remember telling my mum, "I made it, I'm in a movie!" Then going to the screening and hearing my voice dubbed... I didn't even say anything (in the film), I only screamed! I felt a little bit like, 'Wow, my scream isn't good enough for the big screen.'" »
