Disney Infinity 2.0 - A Character Wish List...and Beyond!

14 May 2014 12:30 PM, PDT | GeekTyrant | See recent GeekTyrant news »

Disney and Marvel recently announced that the Avengers would be joining the Disney Infinity roster. Not only that, but the toy box creation game will also see a heavy influence in the form of playsets, with things like Stark Tower, Asgard, etc, all available for your imaginative perusal.

I’m beyond excited to see Marvel brought into the fun and weird world of Infinity, and while having the Avengers is great (seriously, I am not complaining one bit), here is a rundown of other things I would love to see infused into the Disney Infinity 2.0 edition down the road.

1. The X-Men

The Mutants known as the X-Men cover enough ground to be their own expansion pack down the line, if along with the team you would also get access to sentinels, the X-mansion, utopia, Magneto and the brotherhood as extra villains, etc. They could even put a very cutesy version »

The 20 Best Summer Blockbusters of All Time: 'Forrest Gump'

21 April 2014 12:00 PM, PDT | EW.com - PopWatch | See recent EW.com - PopWatch news »

Before he was Tam Honks, he was Fahrst… Fahrst Gump. The Greenbow-born-and-bred witness to history may not have been the sharpest tool in the shed, but he was all heart — and (once those braces fell away) legs. Based on Winston Groom’s fantastical novel, Robert Zemeckis’s decades-spanning movie touched on nearly ever major cultural milestone in the second half of the 20th century: Vietnam and the March on Washington, Watergate and “S— happens” shirts, Elvis and world-class ping pong, and on and on. Yet, it was solid as a rock while feeling light as a feather. It was also »

Royale with Cheese: 'Pulp Fiction' Gets a Live Reading at Lacma

21 February 2014 7:07 AM, PST | Rollingstone.com | See recent Rolling Stone news »

When Quentin Tarantino's brilliant, groundbreaking Pulp Fiction was released twenty years ago, Joseph Gordon-Levitt was the 13-year-old star of the Disney sports comedy Angels in the Outfield. Last night, he starred in a live reading of Pulp Fiction as Vincent Vega (John Travolta's character), effectively getting a do-over on 1994.

The Film Independent at Lacma Live Read, now in its third season of unrehearsed public performances of classic screenplays with new actors, was founded by Jason Reitman, who has stepped aside in recent months in favor of a sequence of guest directors. »

Matthew McConaughey on ‘Dallas Buyers Club’: ‘Damn Right This Is a Great Time in My Career’

18 February 2014 10:00 AM, PST | Variety - Film News | See recent Variety - Film News news »

It may not be to most actors’ tastes, but Matthew McConaughey is sounding oddly happy about his smaller paydays.

“For the first time in my career, I lost money! No joke!” the actor says.

Then again, McConaughey has reason to smile; his choice to reject big mainstream movies, ultimately in favor of gritty roles in independent films, represents a dramatic career shift –— and has garnered widespread recognition — for the 44-year-old Texas-born father of three.

His performance in “Dallas Buyers Club,” as the real-life Ron Woodroof, a homophobic good ol’ boy who became a health crusader after being diagnosed with AIDS, smuggling life-saving drugs into the U.S. for himself and fellow patients, has earned him top honors at the Golden Globes and SAG awards, and brought him his first Oscar nomination.

It is one of several complicated characters that McConaughey has boldly portrayed recently — from the hard-edged drifter in “Mud »

Birthday Gallery: Joseph Gordon-Levitt Turns 33

17 February 2014 11:28 AM, PST | The Backlot | See recent The Backlot news »

We first got to know Joseph Gordon-Levitt as a child star, through his many commercials, such feature films as Angels In The Outfield, and most notably his TV appearances, including a six-season stint as alien Tommy on Third Rock From The Sun.

He left acting for a few years to attend college, and he came back with a renewed vigor, focusing on gritty independent films and character studies. His role in 2004′s Mysterious Skin as a gay prostitute completely redefined his career, and is one of the great performances of the last decade.

Joseph has maintained an eclectic career, appearing in beloved indies Latter Days and 500 Days Of Summer (for which he received a Golden Globe nomination), and big-budget fare G.I. Joe and The Dark Knight Rises. Last year he wrote, directed, and starred in the well-received Don Jon.

We don’t know what he’ll bring us in the future, »
