Allan McKeown obituary

Television and stage producer known for Auf Wiedersehen, Pet and Birds of a Feather

The television producer Allan McKeown, who has died aged 67 of prostate cancer, created the groundbreaking Witzend Productions with the sitcom writers Dick Clement and Ian La Frenais and had hits on both sides of the Atlantic. It was one of the earliest independent production companies outside the British broadcasting establishment to find success within it.

A prime example of Witzend's attempts to push the boundaries of the medium – and McKeown's credit as executive producer – was Auf Wiedersehen, Pet (1983-86). The series, about a group of itinerant British builders in Germany – developed by Clement and La Frenais from an idea by Franc Roddam – went beyond the sitcom format to become one of the first in the comedy-drama genre.

ITV at first had no plans to make a second series but backtracked when up to 13 million viewers tuned in.

Brian Morgan obituary

My former husband Brian Morgan, who has died aged 69, was a distinguished cameraman and director of photography. He worked on numerous major network television series such as Robin of Sherwood (1986), Love Hurts (1993, with Zoë Wanamaker and Adam Faith), five series of the popular Wycliffe drama, starring Jack Shepherd, and McCallum, starring John Hannah, for which Brian was nominated for a Bafta in 1996.

A war baby, born in Cardiff, to Edith and Norman, Brian developed a passion for photography after he received a Brownie box camera for his 11th birthday from his parents. He left school at 16 and went to work for Tempest School and Aerial Photographers as an apprentice. At 21, he got a job at the newly created Harlech television company as a camera assistant, working with the talented Tony Impey, who taught him so much about the skills of lighting for film. They worked with the poet John Betjeman

Lil Wayne headed back to Miami on Wednesday after an eventful few days in New York.

Weezy was supposed to be sentenced on weapons charges Tuesday afternoon, but after a basement fire at the Manhattan Criminal Court building, his court date was delayed. On Tuesday night, instead of spending time in his hotel room watching pay-per-view, Wayne made his way to Madison Square Garden, performing with Young Jeezy, Nicki Minaj and Drake during Jay-z's Blueprint 3 Tour.

After the show, Weezy hit the studio before going out to party. New York Daily News reporters say they spotted him at the club 1Oak with his Young Money family and Trey Songz.

On Wednesday night in Miami, Wayne was back in the studio until about 2:30 a.m. DJ

Afternoon Meme: Johnny Weir Sparkles Like a Queen, Giant George is Tops, Jackson Rathbone Talks Fighting and Twilight, and more!

Johnny Weir doesn't let homophobic sportscasters get him down, he just applies more glitter. Here he is with pal Dorothy Hammill telling Access Hollywood exactly what he thinks of the sportscasters' comments:

We all saw Tiger Woods apologize to us for something that was none of our business. But his decision to not return to golf at this time has real, measurable impact to the economy, which is really hurting. So the PGA has hatched a secret plan to make golf exciting to watch, regardless of who plays:

Greenscreening is all the rage in sci fi and fantasy films, but I had no idea that shows like Ugly Betty, Monk, and Greys Anatomy made such extensive use of the technique. This official screener reel for special effect house Stargate Studios shows how little you can trust your television:

Back on Christmas Eve, we visited with George, the dog who was

Alternate Ending To Halloween II Just As Stupid As The Original Ending

I'm not sure why I didn't review Halloween II. For some odd reason I never wrote one. I would have given it a C-, same as Ron did, but that's because it's the same movie as the first Halloween, a movie I did review. The alternate ending for Halloween II has posted on YouTube and it's just as lame as the real ending. Michael dies (again) but this ending has him screaming the word "Die!" with his mask off, looking like Zakk Wylde from Black Label Society. And don't even get me started on the stupid horse and "Love Hurts" song in the background.Thankfully, this will be the end of any more Rob Zombie Halloween movies. (Though he is credited as being a writer for Halloween III. Not sure if that's true or not. Like it matters.) Hollywood will be going in a new direction to further continue screwing up the franchise.
